Thanks, I learn something everyday!
I think the dropout hole is for the campy portacena device:

no braze-ons or holes on the front dropouts.

So, SCOTTRYDER , you have your rear fender attached to it, how is your front fender fixed without an eyelet?

Thanks for the info!

Scottryder, does yours have a triangle "Carlton race proved" decal on the seat tube, just above the BB?

Norsk, I'll check this evening when I get home. I checked all my photos but the pump is in the way. My gut feeling is that it doesn't but I'll double check. What would the presence or absence of the decal signify?

There is evidence of a triangle decal on my bike, at that location. And I noted there was one there on this ebay bike, which is much like yours:

completed auction:https://cgi.ebay.com/1973-Raleigh-Pro...item2a0b21e739

I found them for sale here:https://www.hlloydcycles.com/

Bikes: '73 Raleigh RRA, 1986 Trek 500 commuter

I'm pretty sure yours should have/had a Carlton decal as you noted. The ones from HLLoyd are correct, at least they match the one on my RRA identically.

Bikes: Cinelli, Paramount, Raleigh, Carlton, Zeus, Gemniani, Frejus, Legnano, Pinarello, Falcon

Many of the higher end Raleighs carried Carlton decals. There were the "Blue Belts" that went on the forks, a squarish one that centered in the seat tube bands, and that triangular one, which was also used on the fork blades... Some of the early 70s pumps that came with the Pros had a sticker of the "Guy on a Bike" Carlton headbadge.

Yes, I just checked, mine does have that decal but it's pretty tattered up.

Bikes: Many

I just got a '74 myself about a month ago. It's very rough and will need plate/spray.

last pic for a while - another nds because just before I took it, I discovered the front tire was flat (old tube), which canceled my ride, which pissed me off, which caused me to snap a quick pic instead of a better composed one. The chain skate was caused by both a slightly bent derailleur hanger and new-looking atom freewheel that would not play nicely. I replaced it w/ a suntour and now all is good! I put some gum wall torelli "open tubulars" on it, much better I think.

That's a beautiful bike. Are you going to show up at a Selma Cyclepaths ride with that ride? That ought to get some serious attention.

well I missed the 10/31 ride, maybe the next one? Thanks.
I need to ride it some to get the kinks worked out, then maybe a group ride.

I've had chain skate problems with 2 of 2 Atom freewheels that I owned. I'm batting 100%!

Same here, until I put an extra-wide TAYA chain on one of 'em. The bulged plates kept the chain from gliding between cogs.

Well if anyone wants to buy mine, I'm game!
I will probably list it in the f/s section along with some other stuff.
