Much appreciated! The fun part is when the price is listed - like the 1973 Peugeot PX 10 for 252.19. Despite inflation, I think you got more for your money then. Looking at the Bicycling magazine road tests from the early '70's brought back some memories of when I would await each issue and read them at school. I like to think I learned more from them than some of the subjects taught! I distinctly remember the Follis 672 - I noticed in the specs it was listed at 21 lbs. and that they had inspected a 19 lb. version. Oh, and the price? 525.00. The tests also can help with a correct restoration or replacing non original parts.

That's Bob Broderick's work. He is a treasure trove of information. Someone posted on CR looking for SLJ Simplex derailleurs (wonder who that might be?) and Bob answered with "Which type?" and then provided a primer on Super LJ models.

The De Rosa review from '74 mentions that if you want one, Talbot's Cyclery in San Mateo is the only importer in the US if you want to get one.

Talbot's is still there - and they still have a DeRosa on the wall, although it's not for sale. They are the last independent toy store on the Peninsula - bikes, trains, dolls - their selection can't be beat.

yes, thanks. Cool. I used to read that mag too and wish I still had them. I bought my PX -10 for about 250 back then, and now I see an early 70's PX -10 on ebay for $1600 buy it now. Phew!

Heh, every article I've read considers the bike for touring, from a 40lb load on a Raleigh Team 753 to a 25lb load on an Exxon Graftek.

Imagine a Madone today for some loaded touring
