Want:
I am after a similar sport-touring/randonneur frameset as the trek, but with a 52-54 seatube and 53-54 top tube. Lugged steel
Will also trade for a swanky vintage racing frameset with cool paint scheme.

Thanks,
Sean
Hi Again,

The Trek 420 is still up for trade.

The Centurion has been built up and is being used as a commuter, but I'd still trade it for a rando frame with a 54cm top tube.

I also have a 52cm 2011 Surly Cross-check frameset in Robin Egg blue I'd trade.

Looking for:

A 54cm top tube c-t-c Trek 420 or similar sport tourer/Randonnuer/Audax/Credit Card tourer frame. Pretty much after a road bike that can take fenders and larger tires, but still have sporty handling.

Will also trade for a swanky race bike frame.

Sean

Okay. Sorry it won't work out for you. Best of luck finding something in your size range.

I picked up this NOS EM Corsa Extra frame and fork for a friend who suffered a financial setback after I received the shipment and before he could pay me. It's too small for me. It has an interesting paint scheme with an assortment of nicks and chips to the finish paint, particularly on the fork legs and bottom bracket shell. I'd love to trade for a 57-59cm frame/fork in similar condition--I do not need another project bike right now--but am interested in seeing it off to a good home where a 54cm seat tube is welcome. If you have an active interest or are just curious for more details, please email me: rdiegel@gmail.com.

That's really pretty. I'd love to build that up for my daughter.

If things don't work out with Robbie, let me know.

And I have three 57's and a 58 we could chat about...and maybe something else (or two) as well.

IDK how vintage this is, but I have an Airborne Ti frame (no fork) that I'd love to trade for a lugged steel frame. SLX, 531, etc. I'd love to have my Concorde back, but I know that's a long shot.

The Airborne's got a 55cm TT. Its a compact frame, so you'll need a decently long SP (27.2) and a 1" fork.

I fit better on the older stuff on 54-54.5cm TTs

If you're wondering, I bought it for the fork cause I owed a buddy of mine a 1" threadless fork. It rides very nicely. It feels like a mix of 'springy' and SL steel. Least that's the way I'd describe it.

I dig that 25.5" 420. Not sure I currently have anything to trade for it, though. Have a 56 cm Univega and this pretty unique 62x55 (if I recall) shogun 600. Not as tall as your trek, and a comfortable short reach. Was thinking of trying bike polo on it.

Pinarello Montello

I have an absolutely gorgeous Pinarello Montello frame in chromonero that will fit a rider who is 6'2" to 6'4" tall. The frame is a about a 60cm with a long top tube. It is a bit too big for me, though I ride it. I am 6'1" and ride a 58cm or possibly a 59cm. I would consider a trade for something pretty swanky as the Montello is about as good as it gets in steel.

I have a couple vintage mtb frames that are too small for me:

late-80s Schwinn High Sierra (19inch), two-tone brown. I'll include a nice, working set of suntour roller cam brakes. All the touring braise-ons, etc.
90s Rockhopper, 17inch, prestige tubing, red, nice shape, rock shock.
90s Trek 950 with super cool rigid fork, 17inch, stripped to metal.

Looking for 23inch mtb frame/fork prefer 80s to early 90s. Also will consider any 59-62cm steel frame with canti posts.

PM me for pics measurements and pics.

Five frames

I have three frames for swappage:
1) Cannondale SR, 62cm. A pre-86 with the metal top tube cable guides. The rearmost one was missing when I got the frame, so I drilled it for a plastic one. Frame will come with a new plastic cable guide, DT shifter stubs, braze-on FD hanger, BB cable guide and seatpost binder bolt. No dents or damage. Currently black but in need of refinishing, steel fork was stripped by previous owner. Nice frame for a larger person 6 feet or taller with longish legs.

2) Cannondale SR, 60cm. An '88, so without the cantilevered seat stays that appeared in '89. No dents or damage. Steel fork. Color is that minty green they used that year and while not in desperate need of refinishing, the Imron paint used by Cannondale does tend to fade and chip easily after 23 years. Frame will come with Jagwire brand adhesive type cable guides (not original but functional and aesthetically not bad), DT shifter stubs, FD braze-on hanger, BB cable guide and seatpost binder bolt.

3) Cannondale ST, 23" (57.5cm). An '83 or '84 with the metal top tube cable guides. Excellent all-around sport touring bike, with geometry that's less tight than a Criterium frame. Originally equipped with 27" wheels (which I can also include) but easily converted to 700c with longer reach calipers like Tektro R556's. Frame will come with DT shifter stubs, BB cable guide and seatpost binder bolt. No dents or damage. Finish is metallic navy blue but really requires refinishing. Please note that fillets on earlier ST frames are not as filled and smooth as those produced five years later.

Any of these frames can be refinished in your choice of color at additional cost by the powder coating guy I work with (of course, this increases the value of the swap). Or I can swap multiple frames to someone who has an interesting bike or frame to trade. Also willing to consider other arrangements, if you catch my drift.

Robbie Tunes, have faith, I found this 25.5" 620 on this thread...

I also have an '83 520 that will eventually inherit these SS 'Cross parts when the 620 gets a nice touring drivetrain.

God bless the Frame-Don't-Fit thread!

And God forgive the scrap brake cable. And the fact that I took the photo before trimming the rear cable...

I guess I need to chime in while we're talking big Trek touring frames. I've got this 83 Trek 520 I had modified and painted by Matt Assenmacher to include repairing a pea-sized ding on the underside of the down tube, adding shifter braze ons, adding canti bosses for 700c wheels and a rear canti hanger, and setting the rear to 130mm; the paint is orange with a pearl-heavy clear. It's way too big for me and I'd love to see it go to a new home. For the purpose of discussion, if I was selling I'd ask $500 and take my loss like a man but I'd much rather trade for something tasty in 57ish of similar value. There's a scan of the receipt for the work in the album linked below and you can add the numbers if you wish. It's very pretty but at 25.5" ginormous; I've ridden it, but just barely given the dangers associated with trying to put a foot down when stopping. Check out the parent album if you want to refresh your memory on what the inaugural version of the 520 looked like.

I only wish I had something trade worthy, even though I already have an '83 520 25.5" from this thread to match my 620. And orange is my favorite road bike color. Just like my first bike, a '73 Atala.

Well, um, do you like rust?

I think it would come back after a dip in oxalic acid, which I do have. Maybe I should do that as a project over the thanksgiving break and see what I get. If it takes care of the surface rust, I'll let you know.

Looking for something similar in the 56-57 range, 56ish top tube. 27"/26"/700c decent steel frame, canti and rack mounts, etc. Maybe you even have an old rock hopper frame or something like that that would fit the bill.

I have that exact same Fuji TSIII frame in the same size (58cm), and mine has a 56cm tt. I think one of us is off in our measurements.

I am interested in the Bridgestone XO frame. I love mustache bars and want to build an all-weather commuter on 26" wheels, with Dynamo hub, fenders, and all of the rest of the fun. I think this is the frame to do that on.

Unfortunately, I don't have a ton of stuff to trade. I noticed that you mentioned an old Rock Hopper - I don't have that but I do have a 1988 Bianchi Grizzly ATB in Celeste, which is similar to the early Rock Hoppers. Looks like this (only not nearly as nice): https://tinyurl.com/cj68uh4. Double-butted Tange tubing. The Grizzly has a 55Cm seat tube and 58.5 cm TT (c-t-c). Can get you some pics if desired.

I also have a 1993 Specialized Rockhopper seen here: https://www.bikeforums.net/showthread...C-Expert-Group

If you are not interested in those, I live in the bike mecca of San Francisco, so could pick something up for you that you fall in love with here: https://sfbay.craigslist.org/bik/

I also have a bunch of miscellaneous (mostly kids) stuff here: https://smu.gs/scMfrj

Let me know you thoughts.

Cheers,

Jon

I'd like to swap my Team Miyata (52cm model, 54cm TT) out for a frame that fits a little better. In an ideal world, I'd trade it for a 56cm model, but I'd consider other frames as well. There are plenty of photos of it around...I can gladly send some if needed. Currently built with a c-record/record mix, including a 1st gen c-record rear derailleur and cranks.
