I'm glad you painted the frame black. Yesterday I woke up with the firm belief that green was my favorite color. Then, I saw this thread! I did NOT care for that particular green.

Why, may I ask, are you using the World as a donor? Is the Fuji frame in some way better or different enough?

Bikes: 82 Schwinn World, 78 Fuji ???

I'm also a fan of green, but that green is just a little too bright for me. There's nothing wrong with the World, I just wanted a Fuji because I had one a couple of years back that I really liked but had to leave in in Florida when I moved up north. I also don't know much about what particular bike is better than the others when it comes to vintage bikes, so I always thought Schwinn was pretty much on the bottom of the heap compared to Fuji.

No. Both companies made a range of bikes from entry level to high-end racing and touring machines.

I kinda figured the World was more of an entry level. I can't find a catalog or much on it so I don't know. Everything I find is about the World Sport. As for the Fuji, I still don't know what kind of Fuji it is or even if the serial number is stamped with the correct date so I can't tell if it's a lower end or not.

Here's the Fuji frame now. I was going to go with the black and red theme but I've seen a lot of black and red bikes around and it seems to be done to death. So I sanded it down to the bare metal and went back over it with a color as close to celeste as I could find. Maybe one day I'll have it powder coated, but for now I went with a rattle can primer, paint and clear coat. Hopefully I'll have it put together in the next week or so.

If my screen is anything to go by, I like that color better than celeste — and I was always more than fond of celeste. I'm doing a screen shot to archive the color.

I'm seeing this with a white head tube panel, like this '87 Fuji Absolute:

Thanks for the comments. I like that 87 Absolute. I thought about doing the head tube panel in red, but I clear coated it before I remembered. I'm picking up an old beach cruiser for my wife this week so I may try my hand at it with hers.
