OK justwhat is this???
I have had one of these rolling around in my tool box for years and was never sure what it was. I thought it was a XXXXXX XXXXX but it did not seem to work for that.
I recently found another one at a shop in Portsmough NH (they have two old Schwinn Tandems with a curved ST on the Stoker position). anyway I was snooping around for old stuff and found one of these hanging from the ceiling in it original pacakge.
you oldtimers like me if you know just say Yes and give the youngins a chance to ponder it.

I think it could be chain hook for that back seat stay on the drive side, if you do not have a brazed-on stud, to hook your chain on when you take off the wheel....
I could use one of those for my Carbone. Maybe you can send it to me if you don't want it!??

It's shape seems to suggest it clips around some sort of tubing - i'd be scared of scratches though, so perhaps that isn't the case. I have no idea...

I can't tell how big it is. That might help....but then again maybe not.

Whatever it is the thing is beautifully made. I love the chrome and the way the wire hook elbow is brazed onto the clip portion. If it is as small as you are saying later in the thread it makes it all the more remarkable. It's not something from Kmart, THAT much is for sure. I bet it was expensive when new whatever it was for.
I vote for some sort of clipy framey hooky thingie. Is the circular portion springy steel or mild steel that stays bent when you move it?
It'd make a great necklace pendant or other jewelry do-dad in any case for the hipster/vintage velo artsy type -pretty/shiny!

The more important question BG, IS--- You came to New England, specifically NH, and did not alert your C&V peeps of your visit?
Who cares what that chrome thingy is!
Were you thinking of buying Bicycle Bob's? It was for sale at a great price back in January.

it was for sale? I would love to own a shop but I don't really have the finances for it.
a Pitot tube? that is a good one for sure, however it would provide bad information as it would be in 'dirty air' on the XXXXXX
are you all ready to know or should I wait until Aron, Tom, and Zap, 23skidoo, and few other chime in??

Looks like a whatchamajigger.
I second the request to know what size it is. Is that the right size to fit over a main tube? a stay? fork blade?
