Crystal Bicycles??

I am cleaning up and restoring my dad's Crystal bicycle and started wondering about the brand Crystal. I know it is a Japanese bicycle, but that's about it. I searched all over online, but I can't find any information on them. I am just curious about the company and the bikes they made. I know my dad bought the bike brand new when he was in college in the early 70s for $180 from a bike shop so I thought it must be at least a decent brand. I was hoping you guys could enlighten me on these bikes.

Thanks for the info. I will try to post pictures. After looking at it more and noticing that the brakes and crankset are unmarked it does seem pretty low end, but I don't want to tell my Dad that. The bike rides nice though.

Bikes: one of each

Most cheap Japanese bikes were actually pretty good and parts, original or upgrade, are easy to find.

Beacon Cycle and Supply Company of Wilwaukee distributed a brand: Crystal Bicycles. See Popular Mechanics, June 1973. The bike frame may have been from Giant of Taiwan.
