Help IDing an old Peugeot?
I'm looking into this for an elderly neighbor of my mothers, it was his sons bike and the son passed away and he's interested in getting rid of the bike.
I've already ruled myself out because he has some ideas of it's value but with the repaint and non-original components I just don't know what to tell him.
I's 99% sure it's a PX-10 but the son had it repainted soon after buying it new, his two brothers also bought similar bikes and one of the others painted his as well but apparently the third is in original paint.
This one has had a lot of components switched out and it looks like he bought good stuff, the original wheels are still with the bike and included in the last shot, they're tubulars on unknown rims with Normandy hubs. Apparently the rest of the original bits are long gone.
Here it is,

PX10e, circa 1973.
Rear mech is first generation Dura ace. Brakes are too. Hubs too.
Rear hanger on frame has likely been retapped. Because of changed over components, non original paint, retapping, etc. I suspect it will net more in parts.

That's kind of what I told him, I know this isn't the appraisal area but any clue what the frame itself might be worth or those components? E-bay is useless for PX-10 values although I may end up listing the bike on the 'bay for him.

Read Determining Vintage Bicycle Value and be prepared to learn that there is no way to estimate value. You will understand why if you read the article. And, for what it is worth, my PX10 sold for more than a thousand dollars a couple of months ago...

So should I suggest an E-bay auction to him with a reasonable reserve?
Hope that is a help.
