Thanks guys. I have come to decision that when I find another bike (I only have a 24" BMX right now, I have been road bike less for about a year
) I am not selling it unless I already bought a bike I like at least well as the current bike. I sold that Schwinn thinking I would buy something different I liked and I never did find a bike and now c&v prices around here (Pittsburgh area) have gotten pretty steep. Dumb move on my part.

and I got sniped with 6 seconds left!! I guess you have to do that by hand on GW and not with software. That's ok since who knows what the buyer was willing to pay and it was more than I was since there is no paypal police on a GW auction in case the bike has major problems not disclosed by the lister. At least the terms state it is "as is" unless grossly misrepresented.
If it's in good shape someone got a decent deal IMO.

About a year and a half ago at the Ohio Thrift Store (Kidney Foundation) I grabbed a Raleigh M40 for $40. It was just my size, and I ended up putting about $100 more into it. But I like it and it makes a great commuter. At the same time they had a Sun step thru 3 speed for $60. I wish I'd have got that for my wife, but the $40 I spent for for the M40 was my lunch money.
About a week later (still not payday yet) I saw there a very nice Raleigh Technium, my size too. Damn. It was $75. I knew some guy who wanted one and he got all excited when I told him about it, but the dork waited a week expecting it to still be there.
Since then all I've come across there, was childrens bike, BMX wannabikes, and cheapest kind of mountain bikes.

The Salvation Army Store here is reasonable on their bikes, but most go to Fayetteville, where the U of Arkansas is located.
The bikes sell real quick there.
I got a Spalding Blade ATB for ten dollars, with new tires and new alloy wheels. The rest of the bike was covered
with crud but the wheels and tires were clean.? Cleaned it up to sell and rode it, now I can't sell it. Sweet little
ride for running to the store with the trailer, dollar yard sale find.. I did put a new seat on it, had a wide body
seat..

Most of the bikes are little kid bikes.

That's funny, I spotted a Spalding Blade at the Goodwill near me a few months ago, but it was a road bike with a lady's frame and 27" wheels. I was tempted to grab it for the nice aluminum fenders, but I passed.
Apparently the marketing people at Spalding couldn't come up with more than one model name...

they both had the same frame, the ladies model had fenders?? It is about a '75 model.
Made when low price did not mean low quality. At 30lbs, not really that heavy for a regular steel bike.
You have to ride it to really appreciate how nice it is. There is a thread in this section about a Spalding
Blade road bike some one rebuilt and found it to be a greatly under rated bike. If you get a chance
to grab one the right size, do it..

My experience with thrifts, yard sales etc. is they go hand in hand with economic times, prosperous economy quality donations up and less buyers, and vice versus, know what I mean, if you lost your job you aint giving stuff away, youre a buyer, best scores where when times were good. I find good stuff at moving sales they have a timeline,
