Hydrogen hydroxide works well too but you can't get it in bulk in a dehydrated form like tablets.

I worked in a factory just after high school and used to give a ride to a guy who lost his license for DUI. One Friday he left a bottle of Everclear (Grain Alchohol) in my glove compartment and it leaked all over my bank book. I did not notice until I took it into the bank to cash my check...Not only did the teller look at me as if I had a drinking problem but it also erased the balance that used to be updated weekly with a a typewriter. This was in the mid-80's, no not 1880's.......

Like a statement stavings account where you have an actual ledger book they update every time you make a deposit?
I remember those because I worked at banks in college.

Been experimenting with Chia seeds. Yup the same thing that they put on chia pets. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chia_seed Put some in a water bottle and they swell up and look like fish eggs. They hold a lot of moisture and are supposed to help with hydration. So far so good. I also put sea salt, and a little Agave nector https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Agave_nectar. The only bottle that the chia works well with is one of those camelback bite valve bottles. Looks gross, but its been working ok.

But sometimes I just crap out and do some weak gatoraid powder.

Electrolyte Stamina. Nice neat little packets fit in my jersey,
mix with water and I'm good to go. Not too sweet at least the
lemon lime version isn't. Works against the Texas heat

Considering my environs... I mostly cycle from one cloister brewery in the countryside to another. So that means beer, but mostly weaker stuff in the 5.x% range... helles lager, Augustiner when I can. Liters... for hydration.

I also sometimes drink a little water, but like some of the other posters, I actually have to consciously make myself drink water because I never really feel like I need it-- until I get home after a long ride and then I feel straight dehydrated. But then, I'm also the kind of person who thinks running when it's 75 F out is miserable, and 95 is about right.

I didn't read all the other responses...but...

I drink A LOT of water, I carry 2 bottles and supplement the H2O with Hammer HEED each hour (40+ mile rides)...I finish with Hammer Perpetuem either directly to water, or in a shake with banana and almond milk if I end at home.

My 2c.
