Wow. That's cool. He doesn't have to use the claw when he picks a pear from the big pear chair.

I have a black quill stem that is a good bit loner, 115mm I think. Message me if interested and I will send it free. It came to me free from another BF member and I would be more than happy for the opportunity to pass on the kindness and generosity of BF.

Mehhh....not much scenery here; nor a decent photo. Just a rest about ~17 miles in on a ride today. My first road bike. Got it a week ago (first order of business is to get a longer stem and change handlebar tape to black....previous owner, a super nice fellow, converted to STI...fine by me, works great). Those old Wolber rims are still kicking it beautifully.

bici_mania! Yes! Thank you, thank you! I cannot send private messages yet here because I don't have 50 posts on the forum yet; it won't give me permission. I'd gladly put that stem to use and carry on the BF torch of opportunity - will pay forward my current stem to anyone who can use it once swapped out.

Maybe if it's not too much trouble we can talk specifics via email.

I really appreciate this. You folks are incredible.

Got a bike stand from my brother in law this afternoon that he no longer needed/wanted. One hefty unit for sure. Will replace the 5 bike trailer hitch rack I've been using

So much for the idea of climbing to the top of a tree to escape a bear after you.

Great pictures.

.

That only works with Grizzlies, which are not great climbers. But good luck trying to get to the tree. As the old joke goes, you don't need to be faster than the bear, just faster than the person with you.

Yes, Great pics, Brent! I have to ask, is that pear tree an old derelict from a defunct farm? Hard to imagine a wild pear tree, even in Humboldt.

What is with the Campagnolo bottle with DA group? The only Campagnolo part is the head set!

Typical summer's day in my carport. From left to right, Apollo fixie getting triplized (Tringle speed? Trixie?) Lambert getting the IGH treatment with the Aifine 8 that landed in my lap, and the Peugeot Vagabond there just for riding. The IPA is waiting in the fridge; the box is just a catch-all for parts and tools :)

Yes. Albee Creek Campground is on the site of an old homestead, lots of gnarled old apple and pear trees.

Picked up the latest "bike I don't need" from the local college yesterday. I was the winning bidder at the auction. I figured the components were worth more than I paid for the bike. It's a Trek 950 - looks to be a 1993 or so.

These bikes are always run by the police department first to check for it being stolen. Despite that I suspect this was stolen from somewhere as the decals on the top tube and downtube were spray painted over the decals. Any ideas on removing that paint. Might be better just to get new decals.

As picked up - no cleaning done yet. Not a bad looking bike - gonna need a complete overhaul and maybe a new set of wheels:

All components look stock per the 1993 Trek catalog:
