A Spaniard posing as French by mimicking a Mexican trying to be Italian?

Sure!

Or maybe an Italian-commissioned, Spanish copy of a Mexican copy of a Mexican copy of an Italian frameset! Goes full-circle that way...

Brad has moved into the profit side of his pickup. Bid over $300.

There is one bidder that wants that frameset very badly. Perhaps he feels it is Italian in origin? Difficult to say, but he put in four bids early on, and was the only bidder until recently.

With fees and Paypal, hardly worth the effort. Wait until he finds he's gigged on shipping, too.

We have all been duped into helping him, and he disclosed nothing in his deceptive ad. (Cinelli?---no, not at all.)

Added to my ignore list here, and blocked list on eBay

This happens to us a lot here. You'd think we'd learn. Fool me once, etc., etc. ...

I'm not sure why the sour grapes. I didn't see anywhere that he said he was keeping the bike. We all assumed it. In the auction, he disclosed what he knew....nothing for sure. Everything he stated was correct although I cannot say I have heard of Cinelli using 531, but I learn something every day. Using Cinelli in the title was valid to get bidders. It does look like a Cinelli and is clearly a copy of one and a good one at that. He did say in the answer to a question the thought it was an Ian Alsop. And maybe that is the best guess. He got well over what he paid for the whole bike for just the frame, so it probably was a good flip for him.

We educated him well. Chalk it up to experience and move on.

I would be curious to hear what the new owner knows.

Ditto. I thought it was pretty obvious that it was going to get sold, frankly, and eBay makes the most sense as a venue for something that unusual. No big deal.

It's the American Way; buy low, sell high. Personally, I like to see complete bikes stay together, but hey, the current owner has the right to break it up and sell it however they see fit. Not my style, I'm the one always trying to piece them back together!

It was a cool bike though...

Bikes: too many or not enough

I have to agree that I see no problem here. Brad provided tons of info. A lot of us here seemingly enjoyed the discussion and trying to figure out what it was but no definite conclusion was reached. I don't like all caps in eBay listings but so what. The Cinelli in the title was qualified and everyone on eBay tries to get keywords into the title that will attract bidders. The description seemed reasonable given the discussion here. Too many people here seem really hostile.

Agreed. (and you have quite a nice collection of bikes there, sir!). (or madam, as the case may be).

Bikes: Two wheeled ones

Shouldn't this thread have been posted to the C and V valuation section if it was for flipping the bike on eBay?

He never asked for an evaluation. Only what it was.
