Man, that bike is showroom floor/demonstrator condition! Every time I see a different color, I can't decide on a favorite.

Inside joke, but I assume you've assembled the bike for this one, Pat?

texaspandj, thanks for the offer, and I'll check. I just heard back from him on perhaps letting a friend pick it up for me. I may take you up on that cage or arrange a swap or something. Looks great with the Mavics, by the way. I have a cloth rear disc cover, so 80's it sings Simply Red.....and the box of clips....if you decide to go old school funkytown on the Purple Haze's tri setup.

Hey RobbieTunes, if you want it it's yours. No swap wanted or accepted.
I have a disc wheel ready and waitin. BTW I had one of those cloth disc wheel covers back in the 80s. It was called a uni-disc as I recall. Later dude.

I am truing the wheels as we speak. The problem is, sometimes the wife doesn't find out immediately that I have acquired another bike. I'm sure.......... this might happen to others on here from time to time. So I can't work on them at home. I usually "break" the news to her after I have ridden them in an event. So I have to work on them when I have time at the office. If I get busy it becomes scrambling time right before the event.

Now you got me thinking about that Camaro we were oogling at SOTR! I've been getting an itch for a classic car. Good thing I don't have the time or the money.

[QUOTE=zs3889;18231271]I'm 5'9" and I think 54 cm would fit me perfectly - I'm extremely jealous!! Well, if you're ever letting it go, hit me up! Right now, I'm focusing on getting myself an orange vintage steel bike, road or mountain, which is pretty rare![/QUOTE

There is 1 or 2 threads on here dedicated to orange bikes. They usually pop up in October and stay popular through Halloween. I have a Crescent Pepita, but it doesn't belong here so no pictures.

The cool thing about living in Texas, is the farthest you can be from your destination and still be in Texas is Only 800 miles . But don't forget you still gotta drive back. I'm being sarcastic but truthfull.

Very rare '86 Classic in grey. The overwhelming majority of '86 models-the red/white Classic.

I thought I saw another grey one last night on a CL while I was wasting time. It was one with the red decals. It wasn't close to me so I didn't bother. I will find it and post it.

Red decals would be the '85 Original.
Note the font on the DT on the pictured '86.
The "modern" font began in '86.

I was pretty close to claiming one of those CIM. Just as a donor and resale frame. But I went another way. This one I didn't consider as a donor cause I felt my 88 purple haze deserved at the very least shimano 600. Still this bike is one of my sizes.
Sidenote : I'm only an hour and a half from Dallas but even further in funds.

Centurion Expert Ironman

Nice bike tex, I don't know why the IM's go for so cheap . I would compare one to a Italian racer any day , well save maybe for some panto .
RT got any spare Pannaracers ?

They only had two of those tubular Practice 270's, and I don't have any of the original Panaracer Technova II clinchers, but I know someone who might. I gave him the original tires when I rebuilt his latest Ironman. 700x18, and horrible ride. You'll be re-truing wheels after every ride if you even see a bump.

You know that part where RT says CIM makes you smarter and you know something they don't know. That's what he's talking about. Besides at their current rate of popularity and the "secrets out" you might wanna grab as many as you can afford. Laters

Normally I'd go same color as downtube. But your bike is screaming for contrasting marigold cage.
However either way your CIM is unique and cool. You don't need it but my two cents.

Pretty close to the ones I ordered for an identical application.
That bike is going to be smokin' hot. She's going to want one, you know.

Ironman rescue

Yesterday, I was at a dinner in the NE corner of NJ to celebrate dad's 91st. I had scouted on craigslist a neglected mango/violet Centurion IM expert earlier in the day in Tappan NY, about 12 minutes north on 9W from the club we were having dinner at. Brought my allen keys and a flashlight, made a break for the seller's house right after birthday cake and then headed back to pickup my parents.

I was tempted to lowball, but asking price was low already. Paint is ok. Looking at the tires, chain, and saddle, years of neglect, but the seat post and quill move fine. Except for pedals, I believe all 105 components are there. This tiny bike will be probably be refurbished to pay for the Klein I posted today as well.

While I was getting my Mini S fueled this afternoon, full serve is mandatory in NJ, a silver haired gentleman in a suit spotted the Ironman hanging off the rack in back and came up to compliment me on my fine taste in competition bikes. Turns out he has one that he actually does some triathlons with and is known as the guy with the vintage steel racer. He asked if I wanted to sell him the bike. LOL
