Is this Miele legit?
Posted on the local CL for $20. Real or fake?

I think the name has been bought and is now used on a line
of bicycles marketed in a much more mainstream manner.
https://www.mielebicycles.com/main.cfm?l=en
These are not the Miele's you see discussed here as higher
quality road bikes. Schwinn (and for that matter Huffy and
Roadmaster, which were once legit bike makers) is the same
deal.
I know nothing about the current Miele quality.
And yeah, nobody fakes a 20 buck bike.

Thanks. I had the impression they only made road bikes. It's not a brand I've had much exposure to.

Initially, Miele did focus only on road bicycles, as nearly as I can tell. Towards the end of the eighties (best guess) they entered the mountain bicycle arena. I have run across quite a few old Miele MTBs and found them all to be fairly well made. The picture supplied by the OP is not clear enough for me to make any kind of call on quality of the bicycle.
I should have scanned all the pictures from this Miele brochure - there were several mountain bicycles presented.

The Miele 'marque' is now owned by Procycle out of Quebec (who used to do Peugeot, CCM and Velo Sport for the Quebec/Canadian market if I'm correct on the details). They don't even make real road bikes anymore - MTB, comfort, kids and 'specialty' (i.e. folding or throwback cruiser) bikes.
As clasher points out, there were a full range of Mieles, definitely by the early 90s, even under the original ownership. The brand was started by an Italian guy near Toronto, Ontario - they're not Italian. Jim Miele's company went bankrupt in 1996. They made some nice road bikes with decent tubing and components, a lot of good mid-range bikes still floating around (in Canada, at least - a friend has one that I like), but also a lot of passable lower-end bikes. Can't tell much about that one from the photo, but it ain't fake. Components?
