These pictures make me wish I didn't live in a studio apartment in a city! I manage to fit 3 bikes in there and have a folding Park stand for when I need to work on them. For a brief period I had 4 bikes which was too much. For now I have to keep the fleet at 3 unless I want to start storing them in my parent's basement.

As indicated by my signature, my wife is a patient and understanding woman. Most of the bikes live in the basement/man cave. I have 6 ceiling hooks and about 4-5 more on the floor. My wife's Lemond also lives there.

I keep the three bikes I ride most often in the living room (right now, the Marnati, Primato and Koga Miyata). My wife's commuter lives in the living room as well - the Lotus town build. Space was already tight and it got worse with the triplet, which also now lives in the living room. During winter it will probably make its way upstairs into the guest/employee room.

That's not a bad idea...though I'm not sure our house is much better.

I, too, like to show my wife photos from threads like these and say, "See, I'm not as bad as THOSE guys!" There are NO bikes in my house. Everything is in the third bay of our three-car garage, or parked under a tarp behind the garage on the alley side. I do not share my living space with a bicycle, nor would I expect my family to do so, just like I wouldn't share it with the lawnmower or the chainsaw.

As for collectable photos, pennants, and posters, all mine are baseball-related. Wrong forum for those.

Edit: and that was my 1,000th post! What do I win?

Cool stuff, iab.

My wife uses one of my old Brooks saddles as a bookend. I think that's the only cycling related thing in any of the main living spaces.

The wife will definitely be seeing this thread.

I am a man of humble means because, though a bit older, I'm halfway through engineering school. I have my steel commuter and my steel fast bike, which sees some commuting. They both hang on wall hangers in the second bedroom of our apartment. Her bike is in there as well, but sits in a corner. I keep tools and parts in the closet when I'm not in the process of working on something.

It has more or less been my room for the past year, but with the baby coming in March, it's going to be half nursery. Surprisingly, she doesn't mind keeping the bike situation as it stands. So my baby girl will be sleeping in the same room as my bicycles.

I have a small workshop area in the garage and two more bikes hanging on the side wall. I keep my good bikes in the garage but the rest of the family's bikes are out in the barn. I need to purge some of the old stuff out of the barn and save them from slowly rusting away in the dampness.

I can't complain, my wife has been really patient and accommodating with my bike stuff. I used our spare room as my bicycle garage for a long time.

BUT, I had a pretty good reason to vacate the upstairs and make better use of the basement.

We'll going to be using this drawer a lot.

Hey, that room looks great, Matt! Is he/she here yet?

And, is that an 11.8 I see? And is that a Gibson or Epiphone?

I would guess that you use your bikes a lot less for a year or two as well. Kids put a crimp in hobbies you used to have, but are the best hobby you will ever have.

My daughter is 4, and I just sold my motorcycle this year - after watching it sit unused in the garage for the last 3.5 years.

Thanks, i've been pretty busy with house stuff lately. There were a few other projects that finally got finished too. Of course, since my house is so old some things are a pain in the neck.

Colonel, she isn't here yet but our due date is November 27th. Just a few weeks now, not sure how Thanksgiving is going to look for us. This is our first and we're pretty excited... with a dash of nervousness.

The guitar is a Gibson SG.

Probably, at least the longer rides. I still plan on doing my work commute everyday... it's only 2 miles. I'll probably continue running short errands on my bike. I'd also really like to get a bike trailer once she gets old enough. Wrenching will probably stop completely for a good long time.

I have the garage for my wrenching and we've agreed that none of my wrenching (bikes, cars, motorcycle) will be allowed in the house. I have a smallish 3-car garage packed with all my crap and tools, a sporty car project, my old motorcycle, and 11 bike boxes and 4 rubbermaids worth of bike parts that came with my move. I must accommodate my wife's car in there too. My bubble burst when I ran out of storage almost immediately. I've constantly been reorganizing the garage as I haul home more bikes for flips, and keepers. It got so messy, it was bothering me and Mrs. WNG voiced her concern for the 1st time. She doesn't care how many bikes I have and stays out of garage matters. So, I think I'm up to BIKE CAVE rev. 5.0. The Mrs. even picked up a tool chest at a garage sale, to help me get my stuff sorted. That gift was a pleasant surprise. Although it felt like Rubix Cube trying to fit it all into the 3rd garage.
Sjpitts stopped by this Summer for some bike parts fun, and accused me of being too damn neat. LOL!

Some pics of how the bike cave has evolved.
Initial move in 3 yrs ago, note my Vitus in the corner.

Getting organized 2009...the spare wheels unpacked and stored. Work area prepared.

Bike storage racks installed. I only had 2 built bikes then.

The rack setup got reinforced and became filled. By mid-Summer 2011 it began to occupy too much floorspace.

First the frames got hung:

Then their wheels:

After organizing the rest of the non-biking items, I got my garage back. I said enough is enough no more acquisitions, then I drag home a Cannondale and Rockhopper! I feel like a squirrel gathering nuts for the winter. Squirrels must understand N+1.

My current storage scheme turned out could only hold 6 road bikes, and it will be torn down. I will adapt Randyjawa's basement method of vertical packing.

This is the only bike related item in the house...it's up in the corner of my computer room.

Hope these pics help relieve some of the stress any forum members are feeling from their wives.
I have a very supportive wife and I know I'm a very lucky man. I once had the opposite and life was miserable.

I have a two car garage and the only demands from my better half are that she is able to get her car in and that she has unfettered access to the washer & dryer (it would be pretty stupid to argue the latter.)

Anyways, here are a few pics, no current project thus this past weekend was an attempt at reversing entropy in the workspace.

never realized how much relfectorized stuff I have. Those wheels pop with the flash.

Bwaaaaa, good one.

Considering that particular bike is the one i'll most likely be on if i'm out after dark, it's good to know that reflective strip is pretty effective (Vittoria Randonner's, serious pita to get on and off.)
