Strange 1st gen C Record Rear derailleur
So I picked up a matching 1st gen C Record derailleur set this weekend. The only issue was that it was missing the hanger bolt. So after getting some direction on who to contact about finding hardware to complete it. I found myself on the phone with Peter Vecchio. He was telling me the stuff I needed to complete was super incredibly hard to find.
I needed the hanger bolt, spring, b screw plate, bolt that holds down the plate...or so I thought. He was super nice in very informative about everything. He even sent me catalog pictures of the first gen and the second gen to show me the difference between the two and so I could have part numbers of the parts I needed. Sadly he didn't have what I needed and said I'd be better off maybe finding a broken derailleur hopefully with those parts. He also told me the 1st and 2nd gen are completely different with the top mount setup. the first gen uses a spring while the second doesn't so parts can't be pulled from anything but a 1st gen.
Now comes the strange part I discovered this morning looking at my fancy paper weight. Everything on the derailleur says 1st gen...stamped shield on the front plate, no cut outs on the front cage. Though when I look at the top mount it doesn't have a hole for the screw to hold down the b screw mounting plate. Weird. It has the b screw mount cast into the top mount like a 2nd gen would.
Now the derailleur doesn't appear to have a lot of miles as the pulleys are in really good shape(could be replacements) and the overall condition is speaks it.
Now Peter said this morning that it can be done with some difficulty to swap the mounts but it's just strange. Though it makes it a little easier to find the needed parts to make it complete. Just a bolt and a washer is needed from a 2nd gen.
A strange bird...

Is this just something someone swapped over stuff or something else?

Back in 1986 I worked in a shop that sold Bianchi. I can't remember the model name, but there was one that sold with a super record brakes and derails, but C-record derails and shifters. However, the rear derail was called a C-record B. The mounting system was definately different than the boxed Campy stuff we sold. I think that is what you have. I only saw these on the Bianchis. Bianchi even had a small insert in the box about the breakdown of the derail, and as far as I know, there was never anything in the Campy manuals about it. I find it quite possible that poster Henry III is correct. This was some sort of end of first gen run, and all of it was shipped to Bianchi and dumped on a FrankenCampy bike.
Edit: I just looked in some catalog scans. Looks like the bike I was thinking of was a 1985 Supper Leggra. The yellow paint is what I remember. I forgot about the cost cutting brakes and crankset.

So, I'm trying to figure out what I have here:
Am I missing parts? From what I can surmise, the bolt is not original as for one, it has no Campagnolo stampings but also the allen key size is larger than that of the lower pivot bolt. Strangely enough, the bolt is held captive in some way, but I can't tell how. There doesn't appear to be an inner spring on the top pivot bolt.
I purchased this for a not-inconsiderable amount of money. My intention was to strip the ano, clean up the gouges and collect a few more bits here/there to do up one of my remaining frames as a C Record bike. But I need to know what's up with this piece first.
So, anyone have any ideas? I know the early generation RDs had some sort of extra piece on the backside - but did they all have that? Weren't any C Record RDs designed with the same basic top bolt arrangement as found on NR and SR RDs?
Any help would be greatly appreciated; thanks!

Geez Louise is this the day or bring back old threads of mine? Lol. I've got another C Record on my C'dale and it looks just like this one. My derailleur doesn't have a inner spring like the later c records do. Basically the same as all the other Campag derailleurs. I know some of the 1st gens had that addition piece which I believe was part of the stop and used a spring also. Just never seen one in person.

Henry, your thread was referred to me - too bad the old pics are all gone!
I'm pretty sure this one should have a non-captive top bolt without any of the extra trappings (inner spring, screw plate, etc). I'd keep this if I could find (1) a way to get the current bolt out of the derailleur and (2) an original, correct Campy bolt. I don't want to damage the derailleur (well, any more than the little scraping there already is), so I figure I may be out of luck trying to remove the bolt.
Oh, yeah, before anyone asks: the bolt spins freely. It even moves back/forth a few millimeters. It just won't come out all the way.
