I was wondering if anyone was going to catch that. Must have been reading his friends' (+more) accounts of him recently.

Recently deceased German actor Hardy Krüger (April 12, 1928 - January 19, 2022) is pictured below (left) on the set of The Defector with Mongomery Clift and Macha Méril. It was his follow-uprole to what I consider to be his most memorable portrayal, that of German model airplane designer Heinrich Dorfmann, in the 1965 film, The Flight of the Phoenix.

BTW, Ribisi played the model airplane designer in the remake of The Flight of the Phoenix.

Depth of where Cross is sitting vs. where bike is seems a bit off too. Almost as if he's sitting on a stool painted green and they took the photo in front of a greenscreen.

Tough old girl and still looks great.

I just revisited the 1938 film, Young at Heart. There's a scene where Paulette Goddard and Douglas Fairrbanks Jr. get forced off a country lane while riding their bicycles. A quick search brought up lots photos of Goddard on a bicycle but even more interesting was a captioned photo reporting that she ran a bicycle shop! The caption mentions Bob Hope, with which she did three movies during 1939-1941. I'm wondering if the photo wasn't shortly after the last one and some form of early wartime campaign, possibly for gas rationing? Another photo, obviously from the same photo shoot, indicates it was a Schwinn dealership.

That's pretty cool. I saw one excerpt (but didn't have access to the old newspaper article) that she was shop partners with husband Burgess Meredith. That might be him in the photo above. But maybe it shouldn't be too surprising; she was incredibly good with her investments over her career.
