I'm glad you got rid of the rack. Did it do much damage to the seat stays? I hate those things.

I hear you! - But miraculously, there was not a scratch on it, and overall, the paint was in excellent shape!

Bikes: More than I care to admit

Needs some love, but I still love it. My dad's first bike as an adult - a 1973 (best guess, he bought it in '74) TdF. Will someday be refurbed for my wife.




Think I should keep the original bar tape?

My 84 TDF gone shimergo. It is my favorite go fast bike. I love the clean lines and the chrome fork. The Avocet race saddle was a nice add too (feels great). Modern wheelset and light tires make it a nice climber. Very happy with it, and would love to find the same bike or it's more upscale sibling in a just slightly larger frame.
