I noticed this ended auction and the final price for the NOS retrofrictions and derailleurs is astonishing! Imagine what these guys would have paid for an SLJ6600 then!
It's a French C&V parts feeding frenzy!

Funny you would post that today. I have an identical set but still in the box and earlier this eveining I was wondering if it was time to sell it. Mine is Gipiemme, but the same models of SLJ and in the original box. I bought them for a project and just couldn't bring myself to actually put highly collectable NOS stuff on an old frame. I paid a lot less than that set though.
For what its' worth, the 5500 has a better finish than the 6600, but the 6600 is the first of the Suntour style rear dr. In some circles, the 5500 appears to be the more revered of the two.

I recently bought a lightly used set complete with the rest of the matching Spidel group for less than half of that selling price. Ridiculous.

SLJ6600? My Superior must have gone up in price - it wears an SLJ6000.

Kurt - Your Schwinn Superior is even badder than I had initially presumed.

"Oh yes, it's bad (bad, bad!), really, really bad..."

Mind you, not that I'm too concerned about the value that the SLJ6000 gives to it - it's a nice shifting RD. As a bonus - unlike Japanese drop parallelogram RDs - it gives off those warm C&V fuzzies.

Yeah, prices for high end French stuff are going through the roof lately. I just picked up a used SLJ5500 partial group (RD, FD, retrofriction shifters) in pristine shape for $150.

Wow! I need to back up and regroup on the worth of my GP thanks to you guys.

I'm thinking about letting it go, but MAYBE with the old Prestige RD instead!

From a Motobecane, like mine. I changed the tag, though.
