Here is my fully restored and retro-rodded RED. I picked up the frame, and Dura Ace headset in 2007 for 100$'s from the original owner and he filled me in on some info about the bike and builders. As has been stated the RED are Columbus SL with Campy drop outs and Cinelli BB shell... the have a "criterium" geometry popular with American racing at the time it was built. He bought it new and unbuilt in 1986 from a shop in Southern California... they told him it was a 1983. They also told him that both the Red's and the Blue's had the same quicker crit geometry as the red's. I have been slowly building her up since... trying to put together the ideal set up for me. I have had many many bikes made from evey kind of material and for me this thing is perfect... I went with ultegra, and dura ace hubs on velocity rims, selle SMP saddle, 105 pedals, TTT Mutant stem (NOS), Thomson post, Origin8 shallow drop bar, Cinelli gel tape, Fizik gel pads on bars, and I kept the Dura Ace HS (since it is fine). I love this bike. So this is what one of these with all new stuff looks like.

^Thats a beautiful bike. Possible its Columbus SL or three main - Tretubi.
Also, I spotted a near new condition one but in blue metallic / Campy Triomphe. It was at a bike shop that was part of a large lot of 80's era fine bikes thru a donation / operative. Spotted the bike in the back before the shop owner serviced it and even then it looked great. He was planning to keep but apparently changed his mind. If interested, could guide one to it.
The Ochsner company is in Wheeling, IL.
As for the OP bike, had a chance to see it this last autumn. Gorgeous.

These bikes are sharp for sure. I may buy it this weekend, I'll sleep on it tonight. A 5 hour round trip but it's only $250. The seller bought it brand new, had it built with Sante and 105 and ended up never getting into it. Anyone know what brake levers those are?

The frame and fork is worth more than that

Dont let the house name fool you. With the Cinelli Lugs and fork I suspect that its very high quality. I enjoy mine, its light and short and steep! Love it

Wow !!!! Small world time...sorry Lazyass, but it looks like you decided to pass on it anyway. I've been talking to the guy with this bike over the w/e and went with my daughter to pick it up tonight for her birthday. I'm just now seeing this thread. The extra's were nice and included Shimano 600 brakes. It wasn't as pristine as the photo looked but the extra parts made up for the cleaning it will need. The decals were not in good shape, jjhabbs do you have any left over or know where I could get more?

Im familiar with both Othon and the company. I worked in the industry for a long time and his booth was always next to ours in the trade shows.
most of their bicycles were Swiss. They came in both Red and blue. nice bikes. in 1988 they imported some in Chrome from Italy but nobody in the company could remember where they imported them from.. Othon himself didnt even know. (He is aging) There is no Model name that I know of. the worksmanship is excellent and the Cinelli lugs and fork show that they put some money into them.
Thats about all I got.

Ocshner is a distributor in chicago that used to sell high end Italian stuff to bicycle shops. Othon Ocshner's name was in script on the top tube.

Well, if you snooze you lose. I ended up having to keep my grandbabies this weekend. Good for you, though.

Thanks, an exact match extra stem (I assume longer) was part of the parts box. The seller didn't list all the parts and tools he was including, it was a nice surprise when we got home. The transaction took place in his storage shed in a steady rain and by flashlight so it was kind of rushed.

Whoa, that threw me for a second. I always think Othon Sr. when I think of the Ochsners. Othon Sr. was well up there in age and still coming to the thursday night track events at Northbrook velodrome when I was racing. He and AL Stiller, Babe VandeVelde, Frank VanHaute would get the reserved seating at the finish line on big track nights. Othon was always shown a lot of respect, though I hadn't a clue who he was till someone explained to me who he was. And the fact he was Swiss pursuit champion in 1919, holy cow.
