It's fractured...waiting to find out how bad. Apparently this pretty much also guaranties arthritis.

I've been hoping this wasn't the outcome.

FWIW Time to listen very closely to the doctors.

Again, we all feel for you in this difficult situation.

Thanks all...it's a fracture on the part of the leg that meets the knee on a joint. Borderline on needing surgery - I find out next week. Crutches 6-8 weeks and our house has 4 floors...bedroom on top.

I had to set up a temp. bedroom on our main floor for two weeks after my knee reconstruction two years ago.

Stairs were not possible for me after they rebuilt my knee.

Do you have a restroom you can use on a lower level and is there a room where you could at least put a temporary bed?

Not optimal but quite practical for the short term.

Damn. That stinks Aaron. Good luck with the leg. Don't worry about arthritis, yet. Plenty of time later for that. Good luck with the interview too.

Bummer dude. Get better.

That adds more "suffering" to your "pain and suffering" complaint. Make sure to point this out to the insurance adjuster...

I would hope that you get serious brownie points for showing up for the interview after getting hit by a car.

I really appreciate all the well wishes. I'm on a couch, depressed, so this means a lot.

Get better Aaron. Will you be able to take public transportation if you get the job?

I'm not sure how to handle that yet. Probably a mix of wife, cabs and working from home. It's weird, but everyone I work with is calling, offering help...etc. and I love these guys. I feel less sure about leaving, more money and better security or not.

This sucks. It is one of the fears all of us riding have to deal with.

Heal up and get back on the bike. I've been hit twice as an adult and walked away with bruises, nothing more. I'm lucky.

+1 on listening to your doctors. Be sure to ask questions if anything is not clear.

Really sorry to hear about the fracture. Let us know if there's anything that we can do to to help (bikes or otherwise).

As much as it pains me to say so, it's probably a good idea to think about getting a lawyer....

Best of luck!

Aaron, keep on healing. Glad it's no worse than it is. And knock 'em dead in the interview.

Sounds like the driver, in addition to the cost of the immediate issues, owes you an elevator installed in the townhome to deal with your anticipated long-term ones.

Get well soon. And don't put too much stock into the arthritis myth. First hand proof that it isn't always the case.

Bikes: Two wheeled ones

Thanks all. It's funny, I've been commuting a long time and have had few issues. In my head, my skill and preparation made me safe and guys that got hit usually could have done more to prevent it. I was obviously fooling myself. The nice thing is in two months I'll be on a bike again, I have good friends, good family, good wife and the girl who hit me was honest, responsible and insured. As hard as it is not to be angry and sorry for myself, the truth is I'm lucky. I'm also lucky to be part of this community.

Glad you're still breathing Aaron. The pain will pass in time (though the hematomas may be with you for a while (BTDT) ). It is good that your guardian angel was with you, as it could easily have been much much worse.

Bikes: Steel is real. All others need not apply.

Aaron, I'm sorry to hear about your accident. What a bummer and it hurts like hell. Don't worry about arthritis now. It may or may not happen when you are in your 60's or 70's.

I hope the job interview goes well. If they ask, tell them, "you should see the other guy."
