A couple of books say Floyd was often into the bottle at work, but I've seen him in old movies, and doubt he'd have had a career like that.

Ride The Dare

I am doing the same old boring 84' Paramount. Just looking for more miles. The Gran Fondo (Tour De Coulee), believe it or not, got cancelled for "lack of interest". OMG this is Wisconsin. This was a beautiful ride last year. Circus ride next month then the dare...hoping, really hoping they fix this.

The Travelers Inn (low style) still has 2 rooms left. $50/night. Right on the highway in Mineral Point.

I may be able to squeeze in this trip. I just can't ask my sister to do anything if I'm not coming, though she may prefer you guys to me.....

Are there any plans for Fri night?
How about a Friday ride?
How about a Sunday ride?

Anyone? Bueller?

I'm riding my first relocated group ride tomorrow morning. Driving 30 minutes to ride 30 miles. Hope a few show up. The harder core are doing a 122-mile trip, in this heat, one way. I know no one, so arranging the SAG back would have been Uber-expensive, if you get my drift.

I'll text my sister tomorrow, and we'll see about Friday night. If she can do it, I will foot the bill, and that would include family if you bring same. 200K is going to be tough with the month off I just took, changing jobs, domestic situation, and moving 600 miles or so. I've got a bike whether I finish the 6500 triple build on the Raleigh or ride the Klein. The Ironmen get a break this year. The Serotta will not be done.

I am now 8 hours away, so I can always "get there" with less notice and less time.

I'm at the Traveler Inn, mainly because it's in Mineral Point and was available.

"Da House" just became available, again, but the cost this year is $867 vs. the $600 it cost last time, for 3 nights.

I need a head count for the Friday night meal.

I'm buying all the food, so I expect a beer or two to show up out of nowhere.

Jill and I are both in for a Friday night get together and likely a Sunday ride as well. If it matters neither of us drink alcohol.

We are excited for the ride this year, but not sure what we are going bring as bikes. I really wanted to do a new build for the ride this year but I seem to be running out of time. I think if I find a Campagnolo Victory group set in short order I could actually get a "new" bike done on time. A beautiful 85/86 Gitane Professional. Ugh. Anyone else running out of time to do a new build for DD?

Also in for Friday. Ditto on the cash ......

Maybe I should ditch my mtb's and ride some road bikes before the event.

Well thankfully my schedule changed and I will be getting back to town Aug 10. So count me in for Friday dinner. I will be using a different approach this year. No plan, no prep, no new build. I'll just grab a bike off the wall. But I do remember how to drink.

Wait, I just remember a frame sitting in the root cellar. How many days do I have?

There are several class 1 trout streams in the area. I've fished one south of Mt. Horeb near Mt. Vernon. Find Iowa county or Dane county on these trout maps. Of course you have to get up early with summer temps.

Heh, thanks.

I'll definitely pack a travel rod or two.

BTW I'm old and don't sleep much anyway. This is an advantage when it comes to trout fishing.

A cane pole works well on some of these streams.
Any way you can make the cricket dance, it seems.

Used to be a ton of rainbow on the Pecatonica and Rock Branch was a well-kept secret. I have no idea what effect US 151 had on the streams behind the fairgrounds, or coming off of Ludden Lake.

I've been away so long, don't know. NW of Dodgeville would be some prime stuff, too.

Thanks Robbie!

Should be a fun weekend.

Probably bring my McLean, Kvale and a Weigle frameset I just picked up to gawk at if anyone chooses to do so.

Haven't decided what I'll ride yet.
