Panasonic Sport Deluxe
I picked this up for $10 The reason I bought it was it was my size and had a cool vintage personality....check out that colour..and big ole round reflectors.
Is it worth a rehab? I just thought it would be cool with some fresh tires and some new tape etc.....nothing major other than a good take down and clean up.
Did Panasonic make descent bikes? Any idea of the age? Until now when I think Panasonic I think radios and microwaves....not bikes but hey, what the heck, ten bucks..can't go wrong.

WOW, that's GIGANTIC!
Panasonic made a range of bikes, from mediocre to quite nice. I don't know '70s bikes that well, but it doesn't strike me as being top of the line, but at least it doesn't have turkey levers.
Can't beat it for $10, for sure!

The Sport Deluxe was a lower end, recreational bike. Hi-Ten frame, steel wheels, and lower end components.
That being said, the quality of Panasonic bikes of this era were as good as any of the other major Japanese bikes like Fuji, Nishiki, Miyata, etc.
Here is a Sport Deluxe that I recently found at a garage sale. It wasn't actually in the garage sale but I saw it hanging in the corner of the garage and made an offer for it. It should make someone a nice little commuter bike.

i crashed my old man's 1979 sport deluxe about 25 years ago. i've been looking for a replacement for him for a while (not 25 years) just for kicks. he still talks fondly about it.
i think yours is a 1978.

I bought a similar bike, but in grey, 4 years ago, and was just so happy to see a bike in my size. It's all hi-ten, but I have mine pretty stripped down (besides the rack) It's gone through a few iterations:

commuter single speed

mustache bars

drop bars
it's only worth something to me because i already have it.
but for $10, I'd say that's a win!
