Hey, I have a Schwinn Sprint too -- 1988. It was the very first bike I got after the training wheels came off my pink Huffy. It got a ton of use and then sat in the back of my garage for over 20 years. I started riding bikes again last year and my Schwinn Sprint was there, in impeccable condition, to get me back into bike riding. I got some new tires and the bike was good to go.

Anyway, you should definitely ride that Schwinn and love it. It is funny because I got lots of comments on mine, probably just because it is in great condition and people love seeing the "classic ten speeds"... It doesn't need to be a long lost gem.

And if you learn more about vintage bikes (and I think I've learned a ton just looking at this forum for the past week!), you may spot a truly excellent bike on Craigslist or at a thrift store for very little money.

1. Lots of higher end bikes made back then. Millions of them. As I recall, your Sprint is a mid 1980s model. By the mid 1980s, there were a lot of great bikes out there, many are available now at reasonable prices, thanks in part to the influx of Japanese bikes to the USA.

2. I have picked up several deals in Louisville, KY, on trips when I was passing through the area, including a Schwinn Paramount for $200.

3. My pockets are not deep. I have only pulled $10 out of my pocket to buy a bike. The rest have come from finding and reselling bikes. My bike fund started with the proceeds of a $10 Schwinn Criss Cross (garage sale find). That's the last time non-bike money funded bikes.

4. While I regularly find good bikes for $25 to $50, they all have a couple of traits in common: none come off C/L, and all need work.

Randy Jawa has a great site with lots of information on how to find deals on great bikes.

Sounds like you paid very little to get on the road, enjoy it, and look for your next deal! Avoid that trap that there are not deals out there in your area.

Please don't confuse ebay "asking" prices with "selling" prices. Many sellers never get their ask price. some are far from it. Value is determined once an item actually SELLS. Its easy enough to check SOLD prices.

You can resize jpg photos so the file is small enoiugh to post here on BikeForums at https://www.resize2mail.com/. There is no charge. Usually resizing to 600 x 450 pixels makes the image small enough to attach to your post.

The best bike is the bike you ride, makes no difference what make, model, components. Ride it. Enjoy it. Remember, it is about you.
Keep rolling
