More Ebay Paypal tricks?

I've been dealing with a difficult Ebayer. Buyer got a great price but delayed paying via Money Order. I messaged that the MO would delay shipment for it to clear. After some back and forth (Ebayer very confused / confusing) I got Paypal Payment. I mailed the item only to get a MO in the mail.

After another exchange I refunded the Paypal payment. That's where it gets worse. Paypal charged a fee on the refund and apparently shorted the buyer! I've never seen that before. The refund went through yesterday and I just got a note threatening bad feedback if I don't refund the money - a day later!

then give the buyer the extra $ that paypal shorted them, and a nice apology for the hassle.

PayPal does not charge a fee for a "refund", so you must not have done it correctly. Are you sure you didn't just use the "send money" tab?

I clicked the send refund link and have Paypal records that show it as a refund. I just checked back and found Paypal reversed the charge - to my account. I sent that as a "gift" to the buyer with an apology for Paypal's mistake.

Hopefully my last Paypal action fixed the issue. As to the buyer - I was tempted to post our interchange earlier - a poster child of miscommunication. I wouldn't be surprised to find the MO gets rejected and I get bad feedback for good measure.

Ouch, that sucks. I don't miss dumping PayBay. Was a fairly big seller back in the day but it just got to be too much work for too little money and too many headaches.

You did the right thing. Hopefully you don't get beat up for it. But that's the only thing you can do other than quitting altogether.

I have an interesting issue that I will advise as it plays out. Won bike, paid handsomely for the shipping and insurance. No delivery. Postage Due! Guy tired to cheat the shipper by claiming a conforming sized parcel...
Almost $40 extra will be required to pay as well as pick it up at their facility.
Great. (sarcasm)
I have alerted the seller.
His communication has been spotty but tolerable so far.
(Printed label and emailed that the bike would ship next day then does not actually submit bike for shipment to another 4 days...)

It's a risky world out there.

I for one would also be a little unhappy with the shipper on this one. Why did they except the oversized package without the correct amount of shipping? They took the package excepted amount of shipping they should have to deliver the package.

I've shipped a bike after changing the package slightly - to a different but conforming size - i.e. same cost for shipping. I even asked the counter person to double check and confirm - getting a "no problem" response. The service proceeded to triple the rate in their billing statement.

I have a gut feeling he shopped clerks. I was advised that it would ship the next day at one point. A label was created, so the specifications were submitted online, but the package did not get accepted at a post office until 4 working days later. You are correct in that the office should have been more diligent. Yet to be seen is how much oversize it actually is. My guess is at least 10%.

Why would they reverse the charge to you? that's just asinine.

Well the shipping point postal clerk had no tape measure or forgot to measure one side completely.

31+31+8+8+54=132

My local office would not even have accepted it as it was over 130"

I will say the post office got to my local office quite quickly.

At least the local bike shop packing job was good.
