Help with Raleigh barcode

I have a red Raleigh Sprite frame + crank that I got from the local coop for $20 and am just looking to confirm the year of it. From what I've found around the net I believe it is a 1980, but I'll now ask the gurus. The stamp says RM004893. Am I correct in reading Canada September 1980 bike # 4893? I am probably going to make a 3-speed out of it, but just want to know some of the original specs before I buy parts. Thanks in advance!!
