Missing seat post bolt

I just purchased a late-80's Bianchi Strada LX in good condition. I just noticed this evening that the reason why the seat was all the way down is because the bolt for the top of the seat tube is missing.

What is the name of this bolt? I looked for it on ChainReactionCycles.com but nothing looked right.

You mean the bolt in the frame? that is normally called a seat binder bolt. There are several divverent types some have a 2 parts and use a keyway to keep the 'nut' portion stationary others like the Campi ones just have a small knurled area and use friction to hold it. Some are just screws/bolts that simply thread into the opposite 'ear'

Post a few closeups. You may need to check places like Harris Cyclery.com, EbikeStop.com, Loosescrews.com or maybe Bike tools ect.

If you can figure out the size, LooseScrews.com has LOTS of little bike bits, odds and ends that may help. They have seat post binding bolts...LOTS of SIZES! If someone with the same make/model bike could get a measurement, it would help as there are MANY to choose from. https://www.loosescrews.com/index.cgi

this is one of the best little parts to pick up at your lbs (if you have one nearby). even those shops wih the most modern slant away from steel frames should have a couple different sizes of sp bolt for a vintage bike. you should be able to get a new shiny one for $5. and if it's too tight a fit (but real close), just use a file.

I have owned half a dozen Bianchi Strada LX bicycles and all have the same seat binder bolt. This is an example of what is commonly fitted. Hope it is a help...

I just bought a few on ebay for 4 dollars each. Measure the width of the ears it goes through, there are a couple different widths.

I always try and keep a few Campi type on hand. When I get a frame with some unique binder I usually try and get a spare or two PDQ just to have.
