I think this is why I think carbon bikes in the future will not be worth much unless they are NOS. A frame like this can only be reviewed in my book in person, even then it is what you cannot see that might be the most expensive to remedy, it of course can be fixed, but at what cost?

I saw that one too. She is pretty, but I'm not sure I would want to bomb down a hill on it.

That hairline crack in the seat tube, in two places, would be a deal-breaker for me.
I bought a used Kestrel 200SCi frame in April just to see what CF is like. I agree you're kind of rolling the dice with old CF frames (although you are with any old frame or part). But it cost about half what they're asking for this one, so I figured that even if something was really wrong I wouldn't be out very much. It turned out to be in great shape.

I don't think I'd ever feel comfortable riding a vintage carbon frame that wasn't in immaculate shape or hadn't been looked over by someone who knows carbon.

+1. Cracked CF frame would scare the bejebus out of me. I'll add another thought about this particular frame - I had one a few years back, built up very nicely and a very light config. Rode like a dead fish though - absolutely hated the feel of the ride and couldn't get rid of it fast enough.

it would be worth it if it was free. You could get it repaired and it would be a cheap way to get into a carbon frame.

Paying money for that?
