Specialized Or Univega

I have been riding a 95 Specialized Stumpjumper FSR Sport for a while now. It rides ok, but the rear shock is blown and I am having a hard time finding one. I just got a free Univega 900DS. The frame is a URT design and probably has more travel then my current bike. Plus its aluminum, and my current is steel.

Should I switch my parts to the Univega and make it my main bike? I have heard that URT is a terrible suspension design, but is it better than a 95 stumpy?
