Anybody know the bb shell width on these? Was it still 68mm in 1989?

There was a complete Stumpy like that on eBay a few months ago that went for $2?? I almost bid and then talked myself out of it. Cool bike. Enjoy

I paid $125 for mine with a full Deore XT 6 speed gruppo,thumbshifters, and a prestige frameset. Love the bike and heck I might buy another if one showed up again:

I'm excited. Plan is 1x7, with retroshift controls on mustache or drop bars. I have all the parts I'll need except a 7-speed cassette and bar tape

that's so early nineties I don't even have to imagine a Madonna soundtrack to it. +1 on the 26" 7 speed wheelset with dropbars, it will be loads of fun.
