Retro wheels - suggestions? + Velo orange crank with Campag Centaur?

Hi

I'm building a new bike this year - all new parts but classic look - Mercian frame, brooks saddle, cinelli giro d'italia bars etc. but apart from Velo Orange have yet to find anyone that does nice simple rims that won't ruin the classic look - my current vintage ride has Mavic MA2 rims which are nice and understated but Mavic appear to have lost all traces of subtlety these days - any suggestions?

While i'm there - was going to go fit Campagnolo Centaur but was wondering if I could fit a better looking crankset e.g. Velo Orange and it would still work with the rest of the Centaur set-up...

Cheers
Mark

I Have these Sun M13's on my 1983 Trek 500 and I have Sun CR18's on my Trek 613. Both of the wheels are polished and the sealed hubs are decent especially for the price

What generation campy Centaur? The recent alloy crankset looks amazing stripped and polished...

H+Son sells a nice classic looking polished alloy rim as well.

Not box section, but I love these: https://hplusson.com/products/archetype

Stripping and polishing the crank is a great idea as it is the modern graphics that bother me - brilliant suggestion cheers!

Here is an example from an old for sale ad on thepaceline.net. I think I would take it a step further and get a slightly shinier finish, but not go all the way to a a chrome-like / mirror finish.
