Bikes: 87 Bridgestone 550 (Shocking Electric Metallic Pink)

Sheldon Brown answers with a BIG CHART: Barracuda, Bridgestone, Capo, Diamondback, Electra, Fat City, Fuji, and Gitane. Most of them only one model for a short time....so, YES, a bit of an oddball size, but not totally uncommon, just enough to make it more difficult to find.

Rubberlegs, thanks for posting that link, a chart for the workshop wall! I'd seen it somewhere before a while ago but couldn't find it in my downloads. A useful reference as I've found digital verniers don't help a lot if the clamp area is out of round! Also useful to post possible applications if you are selling an unusual size post on the 'bay. :-)

True. Passage was the same, luckily one of the few intact parts on mine when I got it.

It wasn't on mine- I had to get one from "the auction site." On the plus side- it's exactly the seatpost I wanted- one of the fluted SRs with the flutes blacked in.

hmmm... 26.8...

I currently have two bikes (it'll be three, once the Panasonic comes back from the builders) that take 26.8, although they each have quite different tubesets...

My lugged '93 Bridgestone XO-3 is made from tri-butted Ishiwata EXT. It's supposed to be 27.0, but 26.8 actually fits much better...
My Torelli (a '97, I think) is Columbus Aelle; like the Bridgestone, the company spec'ed the frame for 27.0, but 26.8 is a perfect fit.

My '91 Trek 820 is straight-gauge Trek 4130, and actually takes a 26.2; I've had plenty of trouble finding a good seatpost for it (this is where I learned my lesson; ergo why I'm having my Panasonic modified).

The rest are all 27.2.

I've got an IRD 26.4 original zero offset two bolt seatpost, copied by many. could say it was the predecessor of syncros, ISE and thomson. I just with I could find the proper upper cradles for it.
