Ciocc Designer '84
Hey, I was wondering what my bike would be worth. It is a Ciocc Designer 84 made from Columbus SLX. It has internal routed brake and shifter cables and is in great shape. Right now it is built up with a complete Shimano 600 Ultegra 8 speed group. The seatpost and stem as well as the hubs are 600. I have the original brifters for it as well just prefer downtube shifters. I was wondering what the frame alone is worth and then possibly with components. I only have this one photo of the frame for now but can take and post others soon. Thanks a ton!!!

more-or-less, you can find the video and hear The Man (Giovanni Pelizzoli) Himself pronounce it...
I wonder how the OP concluded this is a Designer 84, since it doesn't seem to have the decal on the top tube that would ordinarily tell us if it is that model.
Also it looks like a later style "semi fast-back" seat cluster such as was being used during the "Bilato" contract-built era for Ciocc, and I guess would make this a little later than '84...but I'm only making guesses based on the murky info about Ciocc that I've tried to study.
Also, it's generally accepted that SLX was introduced in 1984, I'm sure that the "Designer '84" was a model designation that was used for a number of years after '84 and might not have actually come on-line until '85, also might have been something that TSD (Ten Speed Drive, the US importer) came up with. I know that the previous "Designer '80" model seemed to be around at least until the mid eighties, IIRC.

On the non-drive side there is a decal stating that it is a Designer '84. For some reason there is no decal on the DS and it doesn't look like it was removed. I have also concluded that it was a later model, possibly '86, because the earlier models did not have internal cable routing.

Does it have the little "man-on-bike" panto from TSD on the brake bridge?
What's going on with the black paint band around the shifter bosses (seen on those 2 other pics in the photobucket site)?
