don't I wish.
If I had seen that Jerry would not be sending it off to Joe Bell as we speak.
Cuda, I'd sell my whole fleet for that.

nah, I'd say my "fleet" is pretty mundane (with the exception
of my Pog track bike), or if not mundane obscure. I mean who
ever heard of Jan de Reus ? (ok Lynn I know you did).
To me that is a classic e-RICHIE bike, old style decals
(when did RS change decals, anyone?), built by a master
craftsman.

I was looking at all my parts and the two frames I picked up. Well, curiousity got the best of me, and I just had to see what it might look like built up so I put the adjustable stem, Steel track bars, campy post, Brooks Pro, and a 1/8" BMX chain together with my fixed wheelset from my Falcon on the Paramount track. I now know two things. #1 I like the silver rims with the Silver Mist stock paint and #2 700cX28 will definately not fit in the fork.

I have some questions regarding my haul, but I will start a new thread for that. I am going to set the track frame to the side and start working on getting the '73 up and running.

Raleigh Sports 3 speed from early 70's, green and white in good condition. It's the larger frame and I think I will keep this one. It's perfect for dragging the dogs over to the park for their evening run.

I passed on a Raleigh Lenton on ebay, though it only made £23. What life has come to......

The Super Course was one of those odd exceptions in that it got better in looks (and frame specs) as the years went on. The post-'77 models are my favorites.
Take care,

I got an e-mail from this guy last night to set something up for today.
What's that all about?

I didn't, of course - I'd never snake a friend's deal if I knew about it beforehand. However, I would caution about gloating over a deal that hasn't been completed - I've had more than one CL seller promise me a bike only to flake out and fade away. My advice - if the bike is something special to you, make every effort to drop everything you're doing and get out there to collect it before the seller talks to too many people.
Then you can taunt us with impunity!!!

Maybe that's another thread: the one that got away. Yesterday for me it was Trek 420 for $60 in my size. After initial email contact to set up a pickup time, I dropped the ball, and by the time I responded today, it was gone. Not in the stars, I suppose.

Well I have had some good catches in the wheel department.
A few days ago I picked these up on ebay: Mavic Mach 2 rims, Shimano 600 7 Speed Hubs, Hoshi Bladed spokes- $35 Shipped
Then today at a lbs I picked up 5 Sew Up rims and three tires that were stretching on them. They are as follows:
1X NOS 28 Hole Mavic G.L. 330
1x Lightly Used 36 Hole Mavic GP4
3x NOS 36 Hole Fiamme Hard Silver (Silver Label, Anyone know anything about them?)
2x NOS Wolber Neo Pro Tires
1x NOS Clement Criterium Seta EXTRA (Green Label)
The price? With tax it came to a whopping $32.10. Naturally I handed over the money without even bothering to haggle and walked out with a smile on my face. I also picked up a 9 Speed Dura Ace Chain that looks to be brand new for $2 from the same shop. I was quite happy.

!980's Centurian Accordo 25", Tange Infinity double butted lugged frame. Pump, bell, bag, mirror, cyclometer, rat trap pedals. Shimano brakes and FD/RD. Shugino Cranks. Shifts like butter. 6spd, tires, freewheel and chain seem new.

Bikes: trek,specialized,terry,
Picked up a 1985 Trek 410 bike at Goodwill for $18--a 24" size, double-butted True Temper frame, excellent overall condition & rideable (too tall for me!), just needed a bit of grease & cleaning. Model only came out in '85, with an interesting mix of components--Campy 52-40 Triomphe crank, Campy Chorus derailleurs & shifters, Black Dia-Compe sidepulls, Rigida wheels. Trek's attempt to get some Campy components on a low-end bike! Must say I've always like the lugs Trek put on their bikes during that era.

Does this count as C&V? Nah. But this has to be one of my finest Catches Of The Day for my little bicycle-recycling buisness:
One late '90s Trek Y3 dual-boinger MTB, C-List. Freebie.
One '80s Huffy cruiser. Church sale. $10.
Pair of cheap-o MTB frames & wheels. Church sale. $10.
Three other non-mentionable, department-store machines. C-List. Freebies.
Looks like I'll be busy...

I found a couple more items lately. A 24.5" Univega Gran Turismo touring bike with triple crank, Suntour shifters/derail., Shimano XT Canti brakes, Shimano 105 levers, and Suzue hubs laced to Mavic rims. The other bike is very interesting. It is a Shogun Selectra in a 17" frame with 700c rear and a 24" front wheel. It has Shimano indexed light action shifters/derail., Sugino crank, Shimano SLR brakes and levers, and the frame is made from Tange Infinity. It was barely ridden and really only needs some grease and a rear tire. The last thing were 3 brand new Panaracer Smoke tires in 700x45 size for $10 each. The Univega cost me $25 and the Shogun was $20.

mswantak,
I picked it up this morning when the temp. wass only 95 degrees. It is a nice bike and should clean up well. Some surface rust but nothing that a little Simichrome can get out. Need to trade out those tubulars for a 27" wheelset. I have a nice wheel for the front but need one for the back. Thanks Mike for passing this one on to me. I owe you.

I feel better at least that a friend got it. It's for the best; I'd just have wanted to keep it anyway.
I believe bossman's got a spare set of alloys he'd part with.
