Now that he has posted pics it is apparent that the serial number is stamped in the lower headlug and the bike is an '83 model (built by Panasonic). Thanks to Eric Amlie ("Sierra") for the scans.

I have an '84 Voyageur that is very similar. It's a nice rider, unfortunately the one I have is a 25" frame and is a bit too large for me.

Just lucked onto a Zebrakenko Sun Sport. All original, needs tires and brake pads. In absolutely mint condition. Free. What more can you ask for. Seems like it was a lower end unit. Hodgepodge of components. Shimano RD, Suntour FD, Suntour stem shifter, Sunshine hubs, with Shimano Touring center pull brakes. Should be a fun little short tourer. I will get pics as time allows. Anyone with info on this bike please feel free to post here or PM me. I am always interested in the history of these old bikes I pick up.

Catch Of The Day:

*Three Campy levers: One NOS Triomphe, one NOS Victory and one NOS Super Record lever-end only w/o body. No hoods. $15 for the lot.
*One NOS, perfect Campy gum hood - $10
*Four rolls of brand new Velox tape, $3/ea. Finally found a local shop that carries the stuff.

Ended up cobbling the Triomphe and Super Record together to make a single, NOS SR lever, complete with matching shield hood. Looks darn nice...

This "catch" got away...
Mid-80's Trek 400 (made in USA) at the local thrift. Large frame with Zefal pump and bottle cage, no pedals. Very good condition for $25. But the guy ahead of me was already looking at it and took the claim ticket. He didn't really know what he had, but I assured him it was a nice bike, just that the frame was too big for either of us. He said he'd just get a running start and jump on it to go. I guess he'll think about stopping when the time comes...

Well I've been under the weather the last week or so but here's my Catch of the Day that I scored a couple of weeks ago. A 1980 Raleigh "Gran Sport" Mixte. This little baby was given to me by a guy at work. He knew I was into bikes and he said it used to be his mom's but had been sitting in his shed. This bike cleaned up nice and after detailing and all it's sold tomorrow. He also gave me another road bike (Schwinn) that I donated to our local cycling club. Here's the pics.

Motobecane Grand Jubili, five speed SunTour cycline RD, FD. SR Apex crank, Rigita 27in
wheels. Weighs in at 22 lbs, not bad for a old bike.

I ended up putting white tape on it, as that is what I had on hand at the time. It looks pretty sharp, I think.

This bike shined up very well, and rode pretty snappy on the shake-down cruise.. I ended up having to put tubes, tires, tape, and brake cables on it. Also, the derailluers/brakes needed adjustment and I had to change out the freewheel, as well.

It now has a new home in The City.

Next up, a little brown Raleigh Grand Prix mixte that I found last week.

Picked up a '83 Trek 560, 22.5" frame, all original & complete, tires are dried out but bike is in excellent condition overall. Paid $10 at a yard sale. Seller also made me take an unused Vittoria Criterium Super Kevlar tubular with the bike--Don't use tubulars, not sure what I'll do with it!

All it needed was a new front tire, bar tape, and a thorough cleaning/polishing. Rides nice, and even has a nice Cal Clipper sprung comfort saddle. The best part was the like-new Mavic MA2 27" wheelset with QR skewers fore and aft that was on it. I pulled those and will reserve them for another, upcoming project.

Nice Mixte Bossman. I just sold my Raleigh Mixte to a girl that's going to be attending Sonoma State. Good Catch my friend. Saw a lot of mixtes up on Craiglist lately. Not as nice as yours or mine.

I picked up three bikes today from a weird guy in the worst part of town. Hookers addicts etc... they guy had bough a bunch of bikes thinking he would fix them, sell them etc.... but he stripped them thinking SS of fixed gear and tossed most of the parts!!! Anyway I got an old high tensile norco avanti complete, just need some grease and TLC and it should cover the cost of all three. The other is a Norco Victory Tri A but the levers were gone and it had a full suntour edge group, most of which we were able to scrounge up around his apt... save some missing bolts and nut on the FD and the shifters... Last but definately not least a bridgestone... stainless steel main tube and it is a tank. it has bridge stone cranks and the front caliper as well. the seatpost is a quill style. Wheels etc.. are mix matched and inconsequential. It is a very cool bikes and if the operation does not happen tomorrow (it's scheduled but probably won't happen) I will get some pic up in it's own thread. It's pretty rad.

Triple butted, splined tubing, all 105, black, with snazzy mid 80-'s graphics, skinny 20's, and *maybe* 500 miles on it.

I found the score of my life today. I will have a couple of posts detailing the haul with pics. I am doing more than one post so my computer doesn't screw me after I type all of this out. First, the background on the find. I was getting ready for a rail trail ride after work on a Friday. I was riding my fixed gear conversion Falcon San Remo. My bike was leaning against my truck in the parking lot of a Lowe's. A guy pulled up and looked at me for awhile and didn't say anything. He then said he had a track bike he wanted to sell. He then mentioned the important words Schwinn Paramount Track bike. He then mentioned it was a 25" frame. In my head I am jumping up and down and I mentioned that I would be interested in seeing the bike. He parked next to me and we talked for 30-40 minutes in that parking lot about bikes. He also had a 25" Paramount road bike that he wouldn't mind selling. Well, we exchanged phone numbers and I went for my ride. A week later I gave him a call. We set up the following Monday (today) to come and look at the bikes and parts he wanted to get ride of.

Well, today I went and looked at everything he wanted to get rid of and I bought it ALL!!!!! First the bikes(frames).

First a 73 Paramount P? road bike that had been repainted by Matt Assenmacher in the early 80's. Matt also added DT Shifter brazeons and braze on cable guides before the repaint. It has Campy pedals, crank, f/r der., shifters, brakes, levers, and f/r dropouts. The handlebars and Cinelli and so is the hidden bolt stem. The seatpost is a cheapy with a Brooks Pro mounted to it. The wheels are Record hubs laced to Mavic G40 rims. The bike is mostly complete, but is not together currently. The only parts I need will be a chain and the rear gear cluster (5speed originally?).




The second bike is what I really wanted. It is a 76 P14 Track bike. The Campy headset, BB and pista cranks are still intact. It has a short Cinelli stem on it currently. The seatpost is an American Classic. He sold the original wheelset a number of years ago to one of the LBS employees for one of his own bikes.

Now for the parts and other stuff I got from him. Campy stuff first, front derail, 2 Nuovo Record rear derail. (one goes on the Paramount), pair of record hubs, record rear hub, bunch of misc. quick releases, 52 and a 48 chainring, 2 2 bolt seatpost (missing parts), 27.2 single bolt seatpost, brake hoods, clamp on DT shifter, clamp on DT shifter combination pump peg, pedals with Christophe toe clips, Campy catalog, and Pista pedals barely used in the box. Other stuff includes pump clamps, assorted weinmann and universal brakes, levers, and hoods, Cinelli Wheel truing stand, Zefal competition frame pump (works!!), Lyotard pedals, Cinelli wide Alum. bars, wide Ambrosio Alum. bars, number of stems (Salsa, Nitto, Suntour, Cinelli), Simplex seatpost, 4 old 80's Cycling books, and boxes and boxes of spokes. The last items are nice. I got 2 Cinelli steel track bars and a steel adjustable track stem. One of the steel track bars had a price tag of $2.00 on them from a former garage sale they never sold at.

I feel I did really really well. I am still somewhat new to the vintage bike thing, but I know I got a screaming deal. Oh ya, I know everyone is going to want to know how much I paid for everything. I guess I can tell you. I paid (drum roll) $330.

oh. . . man. . .you are LUCKY! I would kill for that track frame! I am not even joking

redxj, I'm in love with those component photos. The '73 Paramount ain't bad either. My love for 'em wanes after the 24" sizes, but I have to say you've got some nice ones there.

That is incredible! It's actually insane. I would have paid double easily and though I would never score that well in my life again. And you are my size too which makes it all that much more mind boggling. the value propably close to 10x what you paid.

Oh my God. I actually dribbled on my keyboard! That is such an awesome score. You could either make a stack of money, or sell a small subset of stuff you don't really want, and cover costs, or just swallow the cost and keep the lot. that's the kind of score we all dream about, up there with the $10 Masi.........
