OP, mine is accushift alpha-6000. For my son (for whom this is his first road bike) I got some suntour stem-mount 6sp shifters; he didn't like DT shifting. It's still suntour, but the 6sp indexing works fine even though it's not accushift anymore.

Question fer ya: how loud is your RD? My RD is so loud I am embarrassed to ride with it because other people will think I'm a crappy wrench. The chain clacks on the pulleys so hard it always sounds like it's between gears, even though it's not.

I threw the rear from another bike on it and tried it, as a 5 speed, it was a bit loud, and would not backpedal well..old chain is dead, need to get a new one and retry. This will be my son's first road...(well, THIS son) his younger brother is now a road bike fanatic, and is on his 3rd at 15.

Bikes: Too many Bicycles to list

Nice find, I would love to find a deal like that just for the components. As was stated a bunch of times a 6spd Shimano HG FW will work just fine with Accushift 6spd, the one and most important thing on making it work together is going to be the chain. Accushift chain is narrow for a 6 & 7spd, using a good 8spd chain is needed and even some 9spd chains work well. Once you have the chain it will shift just as good as any 6/7 Shimano set up does in my experience.

I have a lot of Accushift stuff that I picked up over the years but I always seem to go the Shimano route when building up a bike, but I am now going to put some of it to good use. I am building up a Japanese Bianchi Touring frame with 7spd Accushift XC components, I am using a set of upright touring bars with 7spd Accushift bar cons, a XC Comp long cage RD, XC triple FD, a NOS XC Comp triple crankset. I will have 2 sets of 700c wheels that I can switch out for gearing changes, one set I just built using NOS XC Pro WTB FW hubs with a 13/19 New Winner 7spd FW & the other set will be a NOS XC Comp 7spd Cassette hub with a 13/30 Cassette that I picked up cheap from Loose Screws on closeout & I will be running a NOS Accushift Chain that came with a complete NOS @5000 setup I picked up for $15 a few yrs ago.

I am glad to hear that the Shimano 6 SHOULD play nice...those are MUCH easier to find. I was starting to worry about my Bridgestone's Suntour 6, I try to keep it clean and lubed, but I put on over 1200 miles this year, MUCH of it on that...The Accushift on it works pretty well (often better than the SORA on my newer bike),

That's interesting.

I should try my Superbe Pro RD- all my Accushift stuff is long cage XC Pro or Comp. There's much more of a CHUNK when I shift than when using SIS stuff. It may be my choice in RDs, I just assume it's the way Accushift works.

Well, the project is starting to come together, still need to go through the BB, it spins fine and quiet...but who knows how old the grease in there is. Took it for a 10 mile spin...with some "donor" wheels. Rode pretty well, even shifted the 5 speed I set up on it just fine. 33:34 for 10 isn't too bad, and I was NOT pushing it, as one of the tires was OLD and I did not pack my saddlebag with a kit...Working on the wheels (NOT original to Bike) ...Interesting Hubs, Sunshine GYROMASTER (hard to read) appears to have a 3 81 date stamp. Sealed bearings...still trying to source some new ones...these spin, but are rough. I am not seeing these in Velobase, so not too common. Interesting Mid-Flange look. About 2 1/4" across. Nice vintage look to go with the bike.
