Winter Project #2 - Tempo

I have several Tempo's. I like recent vintage (1980's) Schwinn's. (I haven't stepped to the level of the Paramount's yet.)

Anyway, this is the Tempo I plan to leave at my office in Cincinnati Ohio - my lunch time ride.
The 25" Tempo frame fits me well. I love the pro bars, Brooks seat, etc.
The wheel set is comprised of Dura Ace hubs laced to Mavic Open Pro rims.
Drive is Shimano 600.

I treated the frame with frame saver - inside. The huge mistake I made was not soaking the frame before building to get some of the rust off the outside. I hope I can rectify that by using a little vinegar to go over the more rusty areas now. The troubling spots are by the lugs. Surface rust I can handle - but the rust around the lugs jumped out at me after the bike was finished. (Bad timing)

It should be fun to ride when Ohio melts.

thanks
Tempo

Nice ride! I recently joined the Tempo club, so I'm always interested in seeing what others have done with theirs. Thanks for posting.

Was just joking around about the striped Schwinn Decals, I think it's only 86-89 though. If I see a schwinn with them on it, I tend to go investigate.

Hahahaha got it. Fact is, the decals on mine are pretty ugly. The 50/50 yellow/white on the "champagne" frame is irritating on many levels. I'm actually back-and-forth about removing the large Schwinn decal on the down tube and just leaving the seat tube decal (S with stripe). Either way, someone should be shot for selecting that decal set. No way I'm going with yellow housings/tape against the frame color, and if I go white it'll just get dirty and match the frame anyway. Wonder if I could track down a white/red or white/navy decal set and change things up? Hmmmmm...

Thank you. I will try that before I take the bike out, then wax the whole thing.
Goodness knows with the Polar Vortex headed our way again this week, I will have time.

I am so looking forward to being able to ride again!
