year of GITANE???

need help finding out what year bike this is. Leather seat with all quick release. number stamped on frame by rear axle is B42577.and heres some pix.thxs for info.

unfortunately, Gitane serial#'s don't seem to mean much. That downtube decal was still used until '73, but the headtube decal, at least for US models, puts it into the 60's. You didn't say where you were located.

I'm going to guess 1966, but am easily willing to be overruled.

There have been some parts changed out. The rear wheel and rear derailleur at a minimum.

in wa state. thanks for the info. hey one more question if I may....is it worth 275.00?> or < perhaps. thank you again. info on this guy is fairly dry.

what is patina? I was passed this bike when my grandfather died, I know nothing about jack when talking bikes. thank you.
