Guilty again, another fixed gear.

I had the Trek 510 bare frame left over after I built the Comp GS, and the fixed gear Olmo Special I bought at the flea market months ago. The Olmo frame is not very pretty condition wise, so I thought I would build a decent "gentleman's fixie" out of the 510. I had the brake calipers stashed away, and most everything else came from the Olmo. It still needs some Pasela skinwalls, and unfortunately there's no room for fenders, but I'll live. It turned out to be a pretty handsome bike IMHO. The black cork wrap is going away soon, and I will also move the brake levers back up where they should be. I will also get a chrome freewheel for the other side of the hub, so I can flip flop at will.,,,,BD

The nice part is that the DA crankset was a 47/52, pretty brutal except for the more seasoned rider. All I had to do was change the chainring bolts, and remove the 52 ring. Instant no hassle 47/18 fixed drivetrain. I realize the crank might not be up to this kind of torture, but I am not hard on my drivetrains for the most part anyway.,,,,BD

Bikes: A green one, "Ragleigh," or something.

Forget skinwalls, yellow goes nice with black:

I mean, c'mon, it's a fixie.

It's a little spindly in the spider area. All I meant. I imagine if I jammed on it enough like trying to "skip", it may not last too long.,,,,BD

You never know. The racers for which that crank was originally intended would have put a lot of torque on it when racing and climbing hills.

Nice machine, add proper foot retention & good to go.
The old lugged frame Treks make excellent FG road bikes.

Unless you are intent on doing circus tricks that DA crank will take any pedal force you can put into it.

Bikes: Bikes??? Thought this was social media?!?

Even at my age something keeps telling me - a fixie, or you are still incomplete. I think I have the perfect route for a 20km winter training ride.

I didn't like it either, but I figured a fixie would sell better if it had silly colored tires on it. I put it up on CL and it was gone two days later at full asking price. Really a terrible bike, heavy and with a punishing ride.

Yes, but it wasn't included in the sale of the above fixie (and yes, I was clear about that in the ad). It's currently sitting on my ever-evolving Lambert project.
