Nice bike. Their are several Miele threads on BF. (BF's so-called Search may or may not help you find them )
I'm not familiar with the Chic. I own a '90 Gara. Yours looks upscale from mine, as mine is Cromor tubing - yours appears SL?
There were a few upper level Miele's made in Italy. Mine's Canadian, not sure about the Chic.
My serial number is on the back of the seat tube at the bottom. IIRC the first number is the year code.

Welcome to BF.

I don't know a lot about the Sante groupset, but just looking at the bike and from what I know about the Toronto market, a bike "like that" can be found today on Kijiji for about $350. That also means that it isn't moving at that price, so to get it to move, perhaps more like $300 or so.

Found these for you:

from BF member T-Mar "The Chic, with Sante, was available from 1988-1990. However, based on the plum paint and decals, yours should be a 1988 model. Original MSL was $800." With the Plum, just happens o correspond to your find, too.

CATALOG from BF member Randyjawa. Unfortunately, no Chic, so it appears to be pre'88.

...there's more Miele stuff on BF. Use Bike forums in your search string and do a Google search.

...this was toward the top of the line for Miele, and the Sante group of components, comparable in quality and function to Dura-Ace, but not quite as well known.

The only time I've seen it personally was on a Schwinn Paramount, so a decent component set. That one in your picture would go for in the neighborhood of 500 bucks here in NorCal, but prices go down in winter and up in riding season. Also, where and how you sell it has some influence. E-bay prices are often higher than Craigslist prices.
