I have a King cage on the C'dale and not a big fan of it despite being made in the US. The tubing is really thick for a vintage steel frame and looks out of place and like a Cuissi or a Salsa cage but not a fan of the coloring of the stainless. Maybe if they had a polished version of the Salsa stainless cage it'd be perfect or a finish that's not so dark.

I've been debating on swapping out the Salsa cage for a OMAS cage instead. Though nothing gets a aluminum cage and those get yanked off any bike that comes into my hands.

I once had this (^ similar?) bottle with integral frame adapter:

Made by RDR/Italy.

I found an expired auction on ebay: RDR Cageless Waterbottle Made IN Italy Perfect ON A Fixie OR Singlespeed | eBay

This one? Rhode Gear Water Bottle

(Auto-linkification wants to help me, this is a local link to a thread about bags that shows the Rhode Gear water bottle.)

Yup, Rhode Gear made those plastic mounts with the proprietary bottle. I have several of the mounts and one of the bottles (which I bought new in the mid 1980s).

A neatish idea, but could be a bit flawed as it might be quite a challenge getting that bottle back on it's mount when a rider is all beat up and oxygen deprived like on a very hard climb. It's always so much easier to slam back a bottle into a real cage without even looking in such situations. JMOs

I have no comments regarding bottle cages other than some of you have some pretty elegant ones. I just picked up this very same super course. Do you have more photos? It looks really nice and I have to admit the white bar tape looks great. I don't think my personality would allow me to have white bar wrap but all the same it looks very nice. I even ordered the same bell a week ago.

For some bikes, you just gotta have the old REG erector set.

Fear not. I coated the underside of those clamps and frame with clear Plasti-dip.

The ol' Plasti-dip tip.

If God wants me to put a bottle cage on a bike, it'll be there when I buy the bike.

When I strip a bike down I'll throw the cages, racks, brackets, ect. in the dishwasher. I might shoot a coat of paint on them if needed. If I see them at sales I'll buy em, never more than .50 though.

No love for plastic-fantastic here either? Seems like all the modern bike guys go for carbon fiber, even though these Velocity cages are dirt cheap, weigh 29 grams, come in a bunch of colors, and are indestructible. I usually make up for the 80's look by using older style bottles that match my bikes.

I'm very happy with Ti for weight-weenie and minimalist/discreet on classic steel, e.g. Wiggle | LifeLine Titanium Bottle Cage | Bottle Cages

1-Elite Ciussi stainless on bikes with elegant lines.
2-Elite Ciussi colors on bikes that can handle them.
That's it for steel bikes.
Yes, I polish the brass part of the button, and touch up the silver.

Otherwise, Campmor makes a Ciussi knockoff for $6
After that, REI has 'em, often on sale.
I've used Minoura Dura Cages in a pinch.
Not a big fan of thick "wiring" on a cage.

For modern bikes, Blackburn Amber, if you can find them affordably.
For $45 a cage, I'll stop at convenience stores and drink.

Hi. +1 for Ciussi. New one, and vintage one. I'm not completely sure if the vintage cage is actually Ciussi, anyone?
