im a clyde..and i have a new wheel set coming.. DTswiss 585..

the thing is my old wheel set was some easton circuts.. nice lite 1640g... and the new set are DT swiss 585 sewn to Dura Ace 10 hubs. its weight is 1840g or so. have have not changed out wheel sets for years... im a little more then 200 lbs and i hear these are bomb proof.. but the weight weenie in me says... your going to miss the lighter wheel set..
so when you make that decision to go with more rugged gear.... do you foks miss the lighter wheels sets and the lighter bike... im not trying to be a jerk... im just trying to adjust to the new bike and how it will not be a super lite machine... but im pretty sure these are much more well built then the Circuts.. hmm... i still sound a bit of a jerk..

sorry,.. just adapting to a change on the bike.

you know... strike that i think i can fight againts 7oz of rotational mass.... gessh 1 world problems.... any one have any first hand exp with the DT Swiss 585 rims though?

You weight over 200 lbs and you are worried about 100 gms per wheel?

yea it is silly, after thinking about it.. im going and try the new wheelset before posting such silly stuff.. i can remeber having colrado cyclist build up a set of campy 8's wheels for me... and they were not lite weight... best and most true wheels i every had... i think they were about 1900g... and they were bomb proof... only recently i started useing lighter wheels.. i guess i just got use to them..
first world problems!!

I went from a set of 1500g wheels to a set of 2000g wheels (wanted that power meter!) and I swear it made no difference in my day to day riding.

Well if the 500g of difference is mainly in the hub (a Powertap I assume), then that's not surprising. People get hung up about the overall weight of the wheels, but the only place you're really going to notice it is in the rotational weight, i.e. the weight of the rims + tires + tubes will make a much bigger difference to your ride than the weight of the hub. Make all those things heavier and it will make the bike feel noticeably harder to accelerate, making it feel more sluggish.
