Here's my take on the big game
Most years I'm a little bummed to accidentally hear on the radio who is in the world series, because then I can't humblebrag that I don't even know who's in the world series.

Music to my ears, my friend.
I went out in the garage last night and had a talk with the bike. It understands that as long as the chemo appears to have done its job, then the back surgery is what I need to get back to living life - AND RIDING! So I gave it fair warning. The bike is excited to get back out there. The wheels quivered a little in fear!

Went out and did some work toward my HTFU merit badge over lunch ... temps in the high 30s or low 40s, winds above 20 mph ... windchill in the low 20s.

In other news due to an unexpected job change i'm now back to driving big truck for my living. Days are way to long and do not leave enough time for the cycling I need. I've weekends off but this fall I also returned to big game hunting so am trading walking and hiking for cycling most weekends lately.
I miss the forums but simply do not have enough time to keep up.

Funny how this goes but I had a sinus/respiratory infection that I just could not kick, antibiotics and all. Went for the first ride in almost a month on Saturday 25 miles decent pace (15.5mph mostly flat, some rolling hills) and it was gorgeous, felt so good to be back out on the road... But now the cough seems to be coming back, not sure if I pushed it too hard... With that said my main point to this post is about two things.
First, funny how it works that with me not riding I had become basically inactive on here, not sure why that is, you would think the opposite and I would be more interested in talking bikes.

Didn't meet my mileage goal for the month ... Also didn't ride today. When I checked the tracking information for my Kickr Snap this morning I noticed that UPS needed a signature for the delivery, and I didn't want to miss it, plus it's still in the low 40s here and windy, so no, no ride today.
That said, I did get the Snap and got it unpacked. Haven't set it up or set up Zwift at this point. Still have to do a little arranging in the pain cave, would like to ride again if the winds subside and the temps bump up just a bit, and before I set the bike on the trainer for the winter I'm taking it to the shop for a quick tune up. Oh ... I also bought a Tacx trainer tire so I'll have to install that.

I haul as close to two loads a day from Ellensburg WA to the ports. This takes nearly all of the allowed 14 work hours plus once a week I'm allowed to use up to 16 hours. The way the rules work I am not allowed to drive after 14 hours on duty but my day often involves 15 more minutes than that for post-trip etc. There simply is not enough time with ten hours off to ride a bike, eat, bathe, sleep, and occasionally shop. I hope with winter coming soon and poor road conditions I'll be working less hours so will get in trainer time. If I get delayed on my first round there will not be enough hours available in the day for a second round.

I'm home and sharing the back bedroom with my road bikes. Can't sleep in waterbed as getting out of it would be problematic. So sleeping on the hide a bed we have for guests. I've got my hip on the ice machine. Home PT set up for tomorrow. I will have that for three weeks. No driving for two. Hubs is off work for three weeks to be my caregiver/support. I'm lucky to have that. I felt pretty good at hospital other than pain and that I struggle to sleep on my back. So just before they are going to give me my walking papers I started to feel nauseous. Which I guess is expected from anesthesia and meds. Just hit me later. They still had my IV in so we're able to give me some medication for nausea before cutting me loose. I was given my lunch but couldn't eat it. The drive home was blessedly w/o traffic and we got home quickly. I took a nap and overall am feeling decent considering.
