It figures, I'm 29 pounds away from dropping below Clydesdale status and you set up a Clyde forum!

Actually, thanks Joe!

I think if you "work" your way out of being a Clyde you can remain an honorary member.

I asked this elsewhere, but is there an Athena sub-forum for women or is that in the uber-restricted Women's forum?

I was afraid of this, I got down to 245 and was thinking what if Joe started a forum and had a limit on weight, just the thought of it caused me to start drinking and eating more and I'm proud to say I'm back up to 265.

Hi there. I'm a 5'9" - 165# Athena and haven't seen anything in the Women's Forum. In the introduce yourself Clydesdale thread I only noticed a couple women. I guess we don't out ourselves as easily as you guys. We also don't have too many equipment issues ... I fit nicely between a regular Men's size M & L in most things. It's my big German (heritage) bones and square shaped body that helps! Anyway, I'm an Athena to stay. I swim and bike and am probably only about 10 lbs overweight. I'd be ill if I slipped under 150#.

Congrats guys on your new sub-forum. I'll peek in now and then to see if there's a flare-up of Athena activity over here.

I'll say hello at 214lbs (down from 240) and hopefully "goodbye" within a couple of months.

Personally, I have never made any changes due to my weight. Same bikes, same wheels, same jerseys, same whatever.

It all works for me.

Again, thanks for this forum. I am 6'3" and 215 lbs. There certainly are a number of legitimate concerns for us larger riders, as much of the new products on the market are aimed at those emaciated skinny folk.

Thanks for the new forum.

Well, I only fit Joe's definition of a Clyde when I've been over eating for a week, and wear heavy hiking boots, but this sub-Forum is still a good idea.

Too many bikes and bike products in every price range are designed to suit a 150 pound pro rider, who rides on the smoothest of roads. For those of us who weigh closer to 200 pounds, and ride on roads that look like those in Berlin in 1946,"sturdier" bikes, wheels, and components are essential. As is a good place to discuss which of those components are worthwhile purchases, and which are not.
