I had a complete computer crash....re Spinner Miles

I have to reassemble the Spinner Database and weight loss database by hand from hard copy, so keep track of your miles and I'll let you know when I have it up and running again.

My hard drive experienced an event this morning and whatever hit me wiped the backup data in the external as well. I've never seen anything like this, but apparently I got hacked! Fortunately, I fall into the Paranoid category about data(but apparently not paranoid enough!), so no personal data or mailing lists were compromised, I keep all that stuff off the computer on a Flash drive, so your email addresses aren't in the hands of a hacker.

Gotta feel for the hacker, in a way, because the database will be completely useless to him or her....all under pseudonyms and what they'll do with how many miles we ride, etc? Not a thing!

Isn't recovering what you thought was lost data the best. I had a server die on me and when I got the thing operational again, one of my drives was not operating correctly. I had to replaced the drive and then discovered that our backup system was not working correctly. Almost 500GB of data was now where to be found, luckily, I had written some code about 6 months before that did a daily dump on an old server while doing some testing and I never shut it down. I was able to go operational in less than 2 hours. Heads rolled in the group that certified the back-ups.

Remember kids, never sign anything you have not verified, it can lead to unemployment.

I rode 7 centuries (700 miles) last week. Did you receive that information?

Yep, but I had to apply a 7:1 reduction to the miles due to a Type II statistical error!

Wow, sorry to hear about this.

I'll PM you next Saturday with my miles for that week and this one since I'm bailing the country for a few weeks and won't be riding while gone.

I'm going to Amsterdam to track down Botto and see if he really exists. Then I'm going to Spain for 3 weeks, then home.

I'll try to take some pics.

You didn't see me when I found out the file directories had been wiped out! I had a total meltdown, then I got to work on the problem!
