10 wheels, check in when you get net access.....

10 wheels is currently under evacuation from Ike. He lives down in the Houston Area, and is getting slammed pretty hard last night and today.

Check in, bro, when you can! Stay safe and keep the powder dry in the meantime.

Last post from 10 Wheels in the Texas forum was around 7:45 last night.

He posted a pic with his house all boarded up and his bike out front, said he was going for a ride after all the wind and rain died down today.

So far, according to what I have seen, the worst hit areas are the low lying places. There are about 4 mil without power down there though, so we may not here from the Coastal Texicans for a few days.

One of the guys in the area posted a quick update off of a back up power supply, said there was some wind damage and some water got in but all in all everything was as good as could be expected at his house.

I hope everyone is safe and sound.

Also hoping and praying here that all down there are safe. When I saw pictures after Katrina, it made me wonder, why southerners have not engineered a better house for hurricane areas, obviously the current building design methodology based on Northern European and English building design of the Victorian Era is not working in Hurricane areas. Doesn't work worth crap in Tornado areas either.....

My Brother in law is a cop in Houston and we have yet to hear from him, but suppose he is a little busy. Luckily he lives in an area that is a less prone to flooding, so hopefully the house made it without too much damage, but it was in the east side of the storm, so will have to see.

Looks like the folks in Katy, a 'burb, are starting to regain power. they are posting that they weathered it pretty well, not much structural damage to buildings but lots of glass, branches, and debris.

The one's who have posted are saying it's worse as you head South get get lower elevations. Still lot
s of folks without power and it's going to be very hot and very humid over the coming days.

It turned East and missed us as a Tropical Storm. We got some rain, had a few wind gusts up to 50 MPH, but they were few and far between. This thing looks like it's going to make it's way all the way to Ohio over the next day or so. Flooding in Arkansas and Missouri are possible and tornado's are a threat as well.

Stay safe and don't take any chances my friends.

My wife has a friend who is a Deputy Sheriff in Houston. We heard from her the other day. There were a lot of downed trees and structural damage. Her home was unharmed but the home across the street was demolished.

They're expecting the remnants to move in here in Lafayette, Indiana this afternoon with winds gusting as high as 50 MPH and lots of rain!

I suppose I'll see it in a day or so after it crosses the mountains west of Harrisburg, PA.

It's rolling through Bloomington now. Every Sunday we have a group ride, so we ended up going out and doing about 20 miles in it. There were incredibly strong gusts that would pretty much stop us all dead and we also saw lots of downed trees. We didn't get much rain though. Hopefully you fair the same up there as we did down here.

Light rain so far, but very gusty winds. Looks like the worst of the rain passed right to our north.

Ike has been visiting us all afternoon.
We're under a flood warning.
Hope everyone in Texas is doing well.

Just got email from 10 wheels. He and his family came out pretty good, all things considered. Minimal damage and they rode it out in a safe spot.
