It would start with the Level 3 option here https://www.lynskeyperformance.com/a/...ild-custom.php

A few brain cells would be toasted in this phase https://www.lynskeyperformance.com/a/...l-titanium.php

Of course, the finished metal problem can always be overcome with some deep thinking https://www.lynskeyperformance.com/a/...otic-paint.php

I would for go the SRAM oprions, but I would consider Red. Super Record would likely end up the gruppo of choice. Wheel selection would be depndant on the aesthetics of the finished product.

I figure it would eek in around the 8 -10K range.

Plan B would start here https://www.colnago.com/collection.php?name=MASTER

Any left over dollars from the build would be used for items such as Garmin, Power Tap, CArbon cages, Bars, pedals, etc.

10K is easy to spend, lol.

Yep. Go big or stay home, lol.

Check out some of the complete builds. Simply awesome, and not too outrageous when you look at some of the bikes out there that are factory built.

I would love to try riding that Carbon nanotube bike, BMC has me drooling at the moment. The BH G5 is a close 2nd. But then again I AM partial to espana made bikes hehe.

Because the alternative is overpriced Tupperware....... Just my opinion. By the way, the Serotta Couer d'Acier with 7800 Dura Ace groupset would be my choice. The new 7900 groupset doesn't appeal to me.

Lotta skinny-tire porn here; time for some more fat.

Santa Cruz Nomad
Manitou Travis 1.5 fork
Cane Creek 110 headset
X.0 drivetrain/shifters
carbon brake levers
BB7's
Azonic Outlaw wheelset, tubeless-converted
Maxxis rubber
RaceFace Next crank, Time ATAC carbon pedals
XTR brake cables, SRAM shift cables
ODI's on RaceFace carbon riser
Atlas stem
SI Shiver saddle
Crank Bros dropper seatpost

Do this x2, wrap one in shrink-wrap for when the first gives out, about six years down the line......

Can I toss in a vote for the Trek Allante? Just saw my first one today, and if it had been the medium I'd have gone for a spin on it.

I would probably get a custom steel or alu touring frameset that can fit 29 X 2.35 tires; Rohloff hub, disk brakes, and 700 X 32 road tires.

Or a custom carbon-fiber folding full suspension cargo bike with a 1970s Super Record gruppo upgraded with ceramic ball bearings and a Powertap crankset.

your better then me if you can hold onto 10k for five years without sticking it in a CD or something.

I would definitely go custom without the wait. probably a full custom one of these https://www.desalvocycles.com/?p=steel_road
I like the look of the Steelman bikes but this is closer to home.

Beat me to it, but I'd probably go to Shamrock Cycles in Indy and have them do one of thei all-steel Fluid Druid roadies in cream with green decals and chrome lugs. Custom fit, with a Randonneur style, 650b 60mm tires, and quill stem.
