sigma computer rox 9.0

I was going to get used ROX 9.0 . I know, it could be more of unit than I ever need, but who knows. Does anybody here have experience with this unit and how much it really helps with proper exercise and motivation . Not long ago when I went back to biking after 12 years, 40 pounds heavier, high blood pressure and cholesterol I didn't believe that will be this hard. I can get the unit for a really good price, but still wondering if that is something that will help me exercise in efficient way. I would like to hear experiences with other similar devices of course. Thanks.

Do a search of the Road Cycling section. I was also thinking about getting ROX this past summer but I did a search there and found that a lot of people reported having hardware problems. The non-ROX Sigmas have excellent reputations and I ended up getting a basic wired one that works flawlessly just like all of the previous Sigmas I've owned over the years.
BTW - if you want to go fancy, the consensus seems to be to go with Garmin. Once again do some searches over in the Road Cycling section, and you don't need to get one of the very expensive mapping models - they have less expensive models that allow you to upload the tracking data to your computer when you get home.

I just bought a new Orca and I'm looking at a new computer for it. I’ve had a ROX 9.0 on my Specialized for over a year now. It’s worked fine for me, no hardware issues at all. The only thing I don’t like about it is the need to set the starting altitude before rides. For my new bike I am considering the following three options.

1) A10 Another ROX 9.0 mounting kit
2) The Polar CS500 with Cadence and HRM
3) The Garmin Edge 500 with Cadence and HRM

Feel free to PM me if you have any questions.

I can get it practically new one for under $100 and that was the only reason I would go with the top of the line model. It seems that Sigma is not very popular in USA. People that spend big $ for computers usually go with GPS devices. Just today I found app Cycle Watch for iPhone that is GPS based and it seems to be interesting alternative. I have no idea if there are any accessories for cadence and heart rate available.

WOW, you can't beat that price for a ROX 9.0! As far as I know, the ROX 9.0 comes with cadence and HRM, it's not and add-on option like with the Garmin.

Thank you, I was wondering about iPhone application "Cycle Watch" if there are those accessories available. I am aware that rox has it all included.

The trouble with phone/iphone apps is battery life - I was getting 2 hours at best on my phone. The Garmin I bought gives me 12 hours and much better info!
