Chewy's 400 mile ride in short sleeves (photos)
Well, I decided to ride to the ride, in true rando spirit. I toured 200k to Jupiter, rode the 200k ride and rode back. My official ride time was 128 miles in 9:20, which was fine with me. I split up the ride to the ride into a couple days each way. Conditions were mostly ideal. I thought I'd share some photos, especially for the people up north, who might like to see some sun and green stuff.
Room temperature outdoors... 72 was about the norm in the afternoons:

I almost rode past this odd (driftwood?)... Later, I'll show you what it was:

A shipwreck near home on the Indian River. The men on board were rescued by locals, but the boat drifted and burned for a longtime. The firemen didn't put it out until it drifted very close to shore:

It was brisk, baby! Winds were high, as usual, on the coast (about 15-20mph). But, they were mostly sideways breezes, only a bit annoying:

I tracked right behind this storm front all day on the second day riding in. But, the fenders did their job, and I stayed dry:

A nifty planter in someone's front yard (those flowers are not plastic!):

So, what was that drfitwood looking thingy? A barnacle encrusted bicycle! Catch of the day(?) Add in some dog p00p and you might get a grant from the NEA:

Coming to a Piggly Wiggly near you soon?:

This is an emergency hurricane shelter. The roof extends maybe a foot from the mountain of dirt protecting the building:

Fishing in the Indian river:

You can often catch a blimp hugging the coast of the Indian River. They have a base in Miami. This guy was probably heading back from a recent bowl game (like the Buckeyes hanging on over the Razorbacks):

Speaking of football, how about those Seahawks? This guy had about a 4 foot wingspan, and some wicked long claws. He had a perfect spot above the causeway over the Sebastian Inlet. That pipe under his feet is about 3 inches wide:

Some of the club members, from the 1000k last year. I'm the really, really, really good looking one in orange. I didn't take any photos during the ride; I was focused on my goal of getting done in the daylight (mission accomplished):

The return trip followed the ride route halfway. Sunrise over the Atlantic:
The lighthouse at Jupiter Inlet:

This is the million dollar view for those lucky enough to live on Jupiter Island:

This bush is native to Jupiter Island. The scientific classification is Yewkiddus Getoffen Mylawnium, but it is more commonly known as the Screw Yew:

Vultures literally circling over my head. Guys, I swear, I'm not even tired!:

Great pics! I tried to ride to work yesterday in 8" of snow (the most I've ever seen here in Alabama!) and failed miserably! Just a WEE bit of jealousy here too.

Awesome job! Sounds like a blast.
I think that white bicycle with the flowers may be a "Ghost Bike." Folks put those out where cyclists lost their lives. I hope that's not the case, especially since it's a child bike.
