Just got a text from Neil, he is headed to paoili (sp?) hospital with a possible blood clot. Please keep him in your thoughts or pray for him if you are so inclined.

Stoutdog: Thanks for the update. Hope this is just a "possible" blood clot and that all goes well. If you can, let him know that we Aussies are thinking of him.

Hope all is well. My wife had surgery last week. All went well and she came home the next day. So she called me about an hour ago. She said Good News I don't have a blood clot. Seems her leg has been hurting her. Doctor sent her to the hospital. They checked and said she's OK.

Hope Neil turns out the same.

Neil update: He has been admitted with PEs and will be in the hospital for a bit, followed by blood thinners for at least six months.

This is very serious stuff. It is, I understand, not unusual, but nevertheless serious.

I certainly hope things improve rapidly.

I just talked to Neil, and he's in pretty good spirits. On the good side, this Pulmonary Embolism issue came up while he was still at the Rehab, and not after he was at home. He's coming along well, and I'm confident he's getting good care and will have an excellent prognosis. His treatment is very appropriate.

Neil should pull through this just fine, I just wish he had more friends/ family closer to him. After speaking to him, he seemed to be in great spirits and is still longing to get back on the bike.

I don't recall ever having heard him speak of any family at all. Or more accurately, I don't recall reading about any family. Does he have any in the area?

I think you will find Neil is the "black sheep" of his family, and if I recall correctly, he has no real motivation to maintain contact with them.

Neil update: Nausea and loose caboose.... He's dehydrated, and is on an IV, so discharge isn't gonna be today. They raised the possibility of tomorrow, if he meets certain clinical conditions.

He's still in good spirits, though, and being our tough guy Neil still. He still has his sense of humor, happily.

Rowan, I did convey your best wishes to him.
