First ride of 2014 and first ride on the new bike. skipped my old flat bike trail and took to the roads right out of the garage. Ended up on dirt roads and with the hills around me my average speed is quite low at 7.7 mph. So much awesome compared to the Walmart mountain bike though, I was dying last year on these roads with that bike.

Rode 9.1 mph for an hour and 11 minutes not including stopping for 10 minutes to watch a bald eagle circling around a field.

Springing forward into the longer days I should be able to ramp up the mileage with longer after work rides. Solvang Century last weekend put me over 140 miles for the month so far. I don't know if I can hit 500 this month, but it is a goal.

Well this is embarrassing, I haven't ridden since Saturday.

3/8: 45 miles - To a nice steakhouse for dinner with family, about 45 miles away. After dinner, they insisted I throw my bike in the trunk instead of riding home in the dark (temps in the teens) although I had lights and fully dressed for the cold. I would've been on the snowy rail trail for 30 miles and a rural highway with a low shoulder for the last 15 miles had I rode home, so I probably shouldn't be too upset.
3/9: 0 Miles - Spent the day working on my car so I didn't need to go anywhere
3/10: Day off, drove my girlfriend's car to the grocery store - wished I was on the bike every second though.
3/11: Carpooled to work as my girlfriend and I are going out to eat after work to celebrate our 2 year anniversary
3/12 - 3/13: Snow storm expected, won't be riding the bike

Felt like a change so put the SPD pedals on the mountain bike and went to chew up some of the trails and bridlepaths I used to love so much. They're still fun, not as muddy as I expected given the recent flooding, and more of a workout than riding the road. Nearly lost control when a puddle I thought was about 2" deep turned out to be more like 8", which was interesting. Good ride all in.

March 2nd -- 22.4 miles, 1,001'. Snowed, rained, hailed, and windblown. What a wonderful start!!
March 4th -- 20.5 miles, 877'
March 6th -- 18.1 miles, 1,228'. For once, it wasn't brutally windy in the canyon
March 8th -- lots of vertical feet, but skiing is cheating
March 9th -- 42.6 miles, 3,770'. I almost logged it as two rides, just to get out of bumpy territory and into hilly.
March 10th -- 21.5 miles, 928'
March 13th, -- 17.7 miles, 1428'. Over the crud, looking for new segments and not finding any!

150 miles, 9,800' and 16.7 mph AS. Goal is 320miles, 20,000'.

110.25 miles, 7,448' and 16.8mph AS

The CX bike and I took the long and dirty way to work and back on Friday for 47 miles. Bike Ride Profile | Dirt Commute near Folsom | Times and Records | Strava

Total mileage for the month so far is 448 with 20,015 feet of climbing. March goal is 1,000 miles and 50k ft of climbing.

Have been carefully watching what I eat to trim down the extra pounds around the mid-section. Scale yesterday morning said 203 lbs!! 10 lbs down this month. Working my way back down to 170.
